w00t, I've got 5 new subbed episodes of Death Note to watch! That's my afternoon sorted..
Is it drawing toward the end? only I watched upto 20 somthing and it showed no sign of ending.

I've checked and there appear to be 37 episodes in total and there will be a 'special' episode in the summer. I'm loving it at the minute though!

The first 15 or so episodes were probably some of the best things that have been on TV for years (better than Lost, Heroes, Prison Break, etc), then it went downhill a bit and it's really picking up again.

I just saw "Sicko".

Honestly, America sucks. Sure, Moore is probably exaggerating and such on certain points, but it's a fact that we're the only country in the western world that doesn't have socialized **[ spam word ]. It's a joke, and I'm appauled and humiliated at the same time.

I wouldn't mind leaving this nation for good. It's not all it's cracked up to be, and while it's true that we've begun to decline a while back, I can't help but blame this piece of this cocksucker, Bush.

It's no wonder every country hates us ;)

Edit: ** [ spam word ]= MEDI-CINE. Wanna fix that, somebody??

Come to Britain, try out the NHS and then tell me socialism is beneficial for the healthcare of a nation.

Come to the US and tell me our method is better. You know what happens if you become ill? You pay up the ass.

Tell me though, why is the NHS no good? I'd like to hear about this from the british first-hand.

I'll give you one reason, of which I am quite familiar. Most NHS hospitals are filthy, and poorly looked after. This means that patients have a large chance of contracting the superbug, MRSA, which is no fun at all. You don't like it? Go private, which you will have to pay for, and it don't come cheap.

And that's just one reason...

Not just that, the NHS is using too much money, so now doctors have been told not to refer you unless ABSOLUTELY neccasary. Now I have some debilitating head pain, it comes on from any stress, physical or mental. Anything that gets my blood pressure up. But they doctor I saw has no idea whats wrong but, "just to be sure" I have to waste a month of my life until he'll CONSIDER referring me to a damn specialist in that area.

Furthermore they've got VRSA to deal with now.

Chronic headaches? That blows big time, I hope you'll get better soon. By the way, why would you be so stressed for? I surely hope not for studies alone.

Yeah, well we all know that cliche "the grass is greener on the otherside". Fortunately for you, you have options. If you cant afford healthcare, you can get it for free. If you want a "cleaner" facility, you can pay for it.

Just remember, we have no options like that. We have to pay ridiculous amounts of money whether we like it or not. Of course, we can just not seek medical help if we don't have money. Unfortunately, many of us americans have to do that.

I'm fortunate enough to have great health insurance, but I remember many years back when I had conjunctivitis. I wasn't sure what it was, so knowing I had insurance my mother took me to the local hospital (it was late), where a doctor confirmed this. The fee was well over 200 USD. This was just to diagnose it. 2 minutes of his time ;)

Fucking pinkeye.

Socialized [ spam word ] can't be that bad. We're the only nation in the western world without it? Obviously, we're the ones with the wrong idea here.

Medical care is a business in every country, regardless of whether it has socialized medical care or not. As long as there are private, paid alternatives, the socialized branch will always be left behind in overall quality. It's the only way the private companies will stay in business. I understand food, entertainment, and the like to be businesses, but something that so greatly affects human life? There's no ethics whatsoever, when the rich get a higher chance of living than the poor.

People in the US die every day because they can't afford healthcare. Do you think those people would be complaining if they at least had the option to seek help for free? Of course not.

Alex, you're in canada, are you not? How's the healthcare there?

I can't speak for anywhere else in Canada, but things aren't too bad in Alberta. Not as bad as they apparently are in Britain, which is shocking (I always thought the UK had a better health care system than ours). There was a lot of doomsaying in the 90's when there were massive budget cutbacks because the province was headed towards bankruptcy, but for the most part it never came to pass. The big concern is waiting lists, there aren't enough beds and doctors to go around partly because doctors don't get paid as much in Canada as they do in the U.S., so many will go south when they get their M.D., but the situation isn't as bleak as some would have you believe. I've had friends and family who needed urgent medical care to save their lives, and they got it, the waiting lists are prioritized by need, not "first come first serve".

All in all, socialized health care is less efficient than private health care, but poor people and rich people get the same treatment and I think the trade-off there is worth it, personally.

I absolutely refuse to believe that Cuba has a better health care system than the United States. I can't stand Micheal Moore, he claims that the Cubans are not his enemy when there country was used as a platform to threaten the United States with weapons of mass destruction. I do think that health care is an issue that needs to be looked at more closely but I think that it needs to be thought through so that we can develop the best system possible instead of just pointing to the good things about other country's without examining the bad things and demanding that our government change instantly.

I went to the US and experienced a hospital. There was no waiting, the equipment was up to date and the hospital was clean. None of this is the case here.

We had travel insurance though, which covered medical care.

Yeah, used by the Russians. The Cold War ended close to two decades ago, time to get over it.

There's another thing about this country- we think everyone else has it in for us. This is mostly due to our asshole government, that brainwashes us into thinking this.

Like Moore brought up during the film, remember the whole "Freedom Fries" debacle? What a joke! It's no wonder we aren't respected as a nation. Not everyone is as bad as we think them to be.
