^ That was the most that i've said to anyone in months. :D

Going to play on my Pandora now to try and ignore my brain telling me that i've ruined my life by telling people about myself.

STOP

Don't encourage depressive people in their whining and their reasoning for their whining, you are making everything worse this way.
I was encouraging no such thing! I was simply suggesting that if you are feeling low OR depressed the best thing to do is distance yourself from the negative emotions that you feel either by focusing your thoughts in a more rational way (hard sometimes i know!) or by venting it or doing whatever you need to do to stop your emotions clouding your self-perception. So you can assess things in an objective rational impartial manner as things will almost always seem better in a light that isnt skewed by emotion. I was certainly not advocating continued self pitying behaviour that wont get anyone anywhere. Before you quote me please read and process what your quoting. i'm completely at a loss as to how you took what i have written to mean what you thought i meant, you've almost taken the opposite meaning from the statement i made.

On balance, I'd wager more lives have been ruined by not telling enough than by telling too much :)

Strigoi, it's ok you're not alone in this i dont trust people easily either. Nor am i a social animal, other people often seem like an alien species to me sometimes (some more than others). Everyone has their own methods of coping as long as you know what works for you then thats a positive, i just try to give what i'd consider good advice to people as dispite not being sociable i do care about others, whether they realise it or not.

@Strigoi: Oh gosh, I really hope you don't think that because you haven't. Thank you for sharing. It's muchly appreciated :) *huggles*
Don't worry it's just my brain being a pain in the arse as usual. :)

Thank you for sharing. B) Sorry if that sounded sarcastic btw I didn't mean it to.

Evening folks..

Feeling pretty despondent this evening.. I've resigned from my job today (not a decision taken lightly btw!) no idea how I'm going to support myself in the mean time & not even sure if I'll be collecting my December salary as my decision to quit was rather impromptu & I'm unsure as far as my previous employers policy regarding notice is concerned..

I'd appreciate your comments (even if they are 'what a f**kwit' etc)

Thanks

Why did you quit?

@Garrett: If it wasn't a decision that was taken lightly, then I assume you felt it was the right thing to do. I'm not sure what work you do, but maybe you could look around for something else or do some other things in the meantime? Please don't worry *huggles* :)

Like _wb_ asked, may we know why you quit? Maybe then we could help more.

I think it's actually true what Klumpen wrote, it really /is/ just in the head of people. The heads of people just happen to be really difficult and not really controlled by their consciousness. "Whining" doesn't help if by whining you mean self-pitying, but it might very well if "whining" means talking to other people about your problems. Or if "whining" means you write down your state of mind, which might help you sort your thoughts and gain some insight into your problem (and that is, how to solve it).

I don't think depressions can ultimately be solved by anyone but by the person who has them.

They really "just" need to get over them in some way. But this isn't easy, this is damn hard. Maybe a psychologist can help with this, but psychologists can only help with self-healing, not actually heal someone.

Chemical substances (no matter whether health care pays for them or if they are illegal drugs, it's mostly the same anyway) certainly can't help either, only maybe suppress the symptoms.

Rather not enter into specifics.. but I work with people that have mental health/learning difficulties & from the moment I started was aware that certain (unfortunately for me senior) staff members were.. let's just say, in dereliction of their duty (at least afaic.. & I've worked in the field for 20+ years) had a 'meeting' today with my supervisor & was basically told that my 'commitment' was questionable (your guess is as good as mine) amongst various other failings.

Had a sense of unease that I couldn't quite put a finger on at the interview stage, but overcame it as I needed a job.. I've undoubtedly ruffled a few feathers & am now reaping the 'rewards'

I'll certainly be fighting my corner.. if only to shine a light on my former place of work & it's unfortunate service users.

Anyone in West Cumbria employing..?

@Monkfish: Oops, I clicked on the wrong quote button, sorry for that, I will correct that.

@T4b: Thank you for trying to and actually understanding me.

@Garrett: Do you got family that binds you to your place?

@Strigoi: Your way of handling the problem doesn't seem to have gotten you very far in all those years, if you still got "snippy" (I'd call it trigger happy) and are still so reclusive regarding your own personal things,

so maybe simply shrugging my opinion of as bullshit may not be appropriate. I know, that my way of thinking is not popular and that you hear a different approach all the time but it has helped me and some people I know of to really get rid of severe (nearly deadly) depression long term instead of building up dependencies.

May I remind everyone that this is a Caring Corner, a place for support, kindness and hugs if needed, not a debating lounge (there should be a thread for that :p ). Debates are all well and good, and different opinions also are welcome, but it seems to me that arguments tend to leak out, which causes negative feelings, not good for a corner of care :D

you dont care about us enough to let us express our frustrations and let out our anger at random internet people to make our IRL just that little bit better?

@DaMummy and sebt3: Ok, you've stumped me :p . Debate and vent away, but no judging and no making anyone cry..or I'll get out my spoon and have my army of Care Bears forcibly remove..in a loving caring way...anyone that doesn't..uh...oh forget it. Do what you want. .within reason! :D

I've been "spooned" by Lolla before and to be honest its really quite enjoyable (i seem to remember it was guinea-pig related).

Garret, cant help you on the employment front but if it makes you feel any better it seems that its the management thats rotten not your skills in this area, it seems like maybe you've done the ethical thing. Perhaps you could move into a similar area of work, maybe another institution or maybe old folks or something, i know (good) carers are always in demand. although i wouldn't hold out much hope for a glowing reference from your previous employer. If you fancy a complete change of scene brick-layers are always in demand wherever you live in UK. Or perhaps you can just turn your hand to whatever opportunities come along. I wouldnt worry yourself too much, something is bound to come up sooner or later.
