Hey, wait, the oil was cold and it is "obviously" a joke. (of course, if one is poor, and that was the only thing to eat...)

However, lets think about the meat intake we (as humans) do around these days.

We like eating babies. Cow babies=veil. Chicken babies=chicken (we call them plofkip here in the Netherlands), Pig babies=pork (you know, when bigger, they get this different strong taste and become unsellable), sheep baby=Lamb.

So, one more spoon of rice or 'taters and one less of meat...

Regarding the dog that came to visit me, i gave him some food and water, which he devoured quickly, and i pretty much sent him on his way. i gave a call to the humane center, but the choices they gave me were all out of my reach to be able to do, like keep him for a week, taking out newspaper ads. was a really nice dog though, i kinda missed him for a few days after that, but im in no position to take in another regular sized dog right now

@Dougal: My good Fr Dougal, I can't help but feel your last post was due to you getting lost by going through the wrong door, hehe. This is the Caring Corner, and next door is the Absurdism Corner :p
I blame the petrol fumes. :D

Ok, so everybody around me is fighting verbally atm, my trainer directly in my direction telling me, that I should pay more and am an awful person.

Everyone is so stressed because of all this *mas stuff, that nobody manages to be nice to anyone or at least to me.

I can't stand it anymore.

:(

You're welcome over here. Not much help, I know, but still...

If Christmas is the problem i suggest hibernation - wake up in February when its all over and things are nice and calm. Before anyone suggests hibernation is impossible for humans there was a whole village in france that used to hibernate through winter in the 19th Century, cant remember the name of it though.

Oh great, now the new external 2tb-hdd with the important data stopped working. :(

What you had done was very important too.  Many people will first think "But what of the future?  I can't keep feeding him forever, and one more meal won't help him out of the situation he's in now."  But as many have repeated, most animals live in the present, and if all you can reach is their right now then it's a wonderful thing to make that right now happier.

All my data seems to be lost,

my music, my photos, my manuscripts, my music notes, etc.... my apartment is very small so I haven't printed most of it.

Everything from years. All the stuff I could get again (GoG, HB, etc..) is on the other drive and since my burner was defective and I just recently got a new one, I haven't had time to make backups yet.

GSmartControl tells me that the HDD is fine, TestDisk couldn't recover anything until now. :(

I am just realizing, what I have lost.

@Klumpen: Ugh, it sounds like it's all happening with you atm :( . Maybe something good will happen out of all the negative (I hope). Have a hug for now *huggles*

@Klumpen: Stop, shutdown your drive. dont use it. Not all is lost.

Go out and buy a 3Tb harddisk, format it ext4 and boot with a Linux.

use "dd" to copy the full drive as a file on the new 3Tb. Now store your old drive somewhere save. We now try to get your data back using the new drive.

Then use scalpel and foremost (foremost is newer, I had good experiences with both), to recover files (you will not get your filenames back, though)

This is the cheap way. But the non-cheap way is to send it to a disk forensics. It will be about 800 euro, and probably the same as the do-it-yourself.

*(although they can put a new board, recalibrate it, and get the drive working due to their tools much easier, this is what I had to do when I fried the electronics of a disk, when the platters were still OK).

If you need guidance, open up a new topic, Ill tell you about the pitfalls and dos/donts

search for a tool named "repo man" it can do miracles. IF the HDD still can spin and you can it access somehow it may recover your files. I was able to recover alot of stuff out of a basicly physical broken HDD. Not sure if there are better solutions out there now but I remember repo man very well. Worth a try imho.
