Surprise Attack!

I think the wandering Pyra would be awesome if it came with a wandering Evil Dragon or someone else from the Pyra team. That would solve the issue of the pyra getting "lost" in the mail.

I am mostly joking about that idea, I suspect the expense of travel and time spent away from the project would be detrimental.

Agreed, could be risky.

OK. I got my GPD Win and I must say I'm somewhat disappointed. The keyboard is not that great, the gaming controls are not that great and don't get me started on the software / performance / battery life.

I really, really, really want my Pyra and be able to run Dolphin on it at good speed, please, please, please.

that won't happen unless it gets a Tegra K1 cpu board upgrade, lol

I only wants to play the Games I know from my CC Pandora but whit enhanced graphics maybe and whit better framerates..
plus games my CC ditnt Plays well, like Dreamcast etc..
So I think i will be happy whit the OMAP 5 for lots of years
I hope for a mass production in December or January and I'm Number 28 in the prepreorder que so I ditnt think I will get the Prototype to try long before I get my actual MP Unit..
Also im not that good in Linux, i can work whit the Angström on Pandora, and I can also work whit Ubuntu,
But I'm not that many help even if i get the Prototype some Days..
More likely I wants to wait until the 27 other preorder got there unit so they can help me whit my Pyra

We vote for a Tegra K1 cpu board for the next upgrade then!!!

Honestly I am happy with what the Pyra will be able to run right now. Everything from NES to Dreamcast and PSX

I'm pretty sure anything with the Tegra name would be a massive problem. They all generate an obscene amount of heat and would definitely need an active cooling solution, something the Pyra just doesn't have room for. Since we're sticking with ARM, does anyone know if there are any modern, relatively powerful SoCs that can still run pretty cool? I would assume any SoC used in phones, but which runs the coolest? I would rule out Exynos as my SGS6 gets really hot when gaming, but I don't really know much.

Sure, anything new from any manufacturer using a newer ARM ISA that implements the same instruction sets (so no comparing A32 and A64 chips, or thumb-only M chips against full fledged implementations) will do more per watt usually, at least for general purpose computing. Apple's newer chips do more per watt than old ones did because they're tuned to run the sort of instructions and routines that make up iOS, but those sort of optimisations aren't really available to general purpose computers like the Pyra.

Yeah, I have a Shield Tablet and even the replacement I got after the battery recall seems to do its best under load to catch fire. Add to that the fact that its battery will under high load actually drain while plugged in to its proper charger, which is sitting near the top end of the USB 2 spec for voltage and the amperage of most cables, and we've got a problem.

My idea of guerilla marketing
1. Get 200000 laser leds, borrowed
2. Project "hack the planet" and the Pyra logo on the moon
3. ???
4. Profit!

I wonder if even with that number of diodes you'd be able to see anything on the moon with the naked eye. Good exercise for someone wanting to do the math.

That was pretty entertaining. But what if we put 500-terawatt N.I.F lasers on the visible Earth surface from the Moon ? Pretty much like Asia, only bigger.
