Those are called demonstrations and proof of concept with existing software. It's not like that's all the machine can run. I am unimpressed by how Quake 3 runs, yes, but I don't really care, as that level of performance on 3 assures I and II will run superbly, and the 2D acceleration capabilities I desire so strongly are already there if it can push that many polygons successfully.
GP has stated via e-mail the machine will be open to development and an SDK will be made. What more do you really need to hear, there? Why do you think they care so much what people on GP32X think?
Release date this, release date that. They are DESIGNING the machines. You don't make a release date when you are in that stage, or it's purely artificial.
GP does not still seem to be interested in going toe-to-toe with Nintendo or Sony, they've made that clear by way of their statements. Another reason they concern themselves with the issues brought up by GP32X posters, they know their community is smaller than that. As for commercial games, who cares if GP officially sponsors them or develops them? I care about getting a good development platform that just might run some excellent emulators and play music/videos as well .. which the machines will facilitate.
Again with the analog stick .. did you read my posts at all? GP is leaning towards installing a D-Pad instead of an analog stick due to the much higher outpouring of support for one, as well as the significantly lower cost.
I agree they should not release 3 systems, I suggested one very well designed, lower-cost handheld. Hopefully they decide to do this. I am not holding my breath given how much press they've made about XGP/XGP Mini and XGP Kids so far. But we'll see.
