Preorders Have Started. (Previously named starts in two hours)

Modern Germans always manage to apply Godwin's law to themselves...
It has something to do with the structure of our history lessons at school, they have a strong focus, if you know what I mean.
Understatement's your style?
They rush through history as if the devils at their heels, then honor NS-times by spending years on it, til the students all get border-line suicidal, and the last half year they rush through the rest.

No this video is old and still uses the Software Renderer. If everything fails we can still use TI's Kernel where the Driver works allready.
No that wasn't software rendering, That was one of the first Devboard videos that EvilDragon done, back then I think he was using Ti old and crusty default image that had the old 3.18 kernel a sort of working 3D driver. Ti stock OS image had a barely working Ubuntu OS and a very crashy xorg and SGX driver.

So what's the status of 3D driver on Pyra now? Any progress since that dev board?
Last I knew, it still needs some work either by Ti or a community member I will keep nameless to avoid harassment, either would need to have a prototype unit to attempt to get it working.

I wrote to Phoronix about Pyra pre-orders becoming available and Michael ran the article.

In classic Phoronix fashion, there's a lot of moaning about the specs, especially the PowerVR GPU, which is basically cancer in that burg. Apparently, no one saw that the CPU board is upgradable.

Article is pretty sloppy and low in accuracy. Comments so far are vitriolic, inaccurate and full of false comparrisons.

We have Sunday so Tomorrow the Big News Sites will notice that Preorders started.

I would like to hear what @Grench thinks about the 2GB vs 4GB sales so far. He was probably correct that we won't use the extra RAM too often, but I think he was also concerned about the extra cost and spreading sales across so many models. He will be getting his before everyone else, and my guess is it will have 4GB.

IMHO if 4GB is easy now with no redesign needed to the system to do it, go for it.

It looks like so far that the 2GB version has so few buyers that it may make sense to single stream populate/make 4GB models only then bin RAM population failures as 2GB versions.

Yes I expect ED to make the purchased prototypes as "top of the line" and have the 4GB. We'll have fun figuring out stuff to make use of the additional RAM.

The additional RAM was not needed for a functional device, but won't be a detrimental factor either.

Atleast the sales are going good. Can't wait till it gets here

I am a bit surprised that the US sales seem to flatten out. Are US customers not ordering or are they going for the standard 4GB edition?

I saw no need for the 4G US edition, I have doubts I can make use of it with any of my local service providers. So went with a Standard version.
