PGS Windows 10 gaming handheld - GPD WIN competitor

If Nadir is serious about this handheld he should follow the suggestions and pull the KS. I am strongly in the imaginary investor camp until proven otherwise. With that assumption, there isn't enough funding available to produce anything that would resemble the PGS that is on the campaign page. If he can regroup, dust himself off and try to fill engineering holes in the project by finding others who share his passion. He could come back with a PCB prototype and a real transparent game plan i'd probably back it.
Even if he wouldn't admit all his lies?
He is building lies upon lies as it seems and I can't see any intention of changing this habit.

Advisory to anyone planning on cancelling their pledge: You shouldn't wait within 25 hours of the campaign from ending. If you try to do so and your pledge effects the KS campaigns fund-limit from going below, you're locked from cancelling your pledge. So just cancel two days before the KS campaign ends.
If this is true, then maybe it's really just about stalling until the time frame for the mass exodus is over.

If he owned up and admitted to being in over his head, being the only person working on the project and felt he had to make the team look like an established and professional company then maybe. It's hard to give someone trust after being deceived on so many occasions, and having to speculate instead of getting clear answers immediately.

But that Tom fellow might also be right and the BIG update that they promise might only come when it is too late, or never come. I still believe with the large amount of controversy, backers reporting the campaign and the consecutive losses KS will shut it down. and save everyone of the backers from getting vaporware. If they do not I have little faith in KS' vision and values and will have issues backing future projects on their platform.

I'll admit I don't back much and what I do back is relatively low risk. Do most campaigns have this much BS and drama surrounding them and the amount of funding as PGS? I'm curious, it seems like something ambitious and sketchy as the PGS would get more scrutiny then some cookbook, wristband or low budget indie game.

I've seen campaigns where the project creator came out and said straight up that they had backed their own project for the vast majority it needed to succeed,. It was during the Ouya FTGF, where Ouya matched the backing for any campaign that raised at least $50K and was successful. Ie they gamed the system to get Ouyas cash. Openly admitted it.

Yeah, it can get bad.

Maybe I didn't express my thoughts well, but I'm not asking if KS campaigns ended up scamming or misusing funds after the campaign ended, but were these campaigns a complete gong show like PGS from the get go?

Kreyos wasn't on KS, and I know that indie gogo has laxer rules for their campaigns, not that crowdfunding platform makes a difference when people are scamming it. I don't have enough time to go through the thousands of comments but was their as much uncertainty of success by their backers and naysayers?

Indie games are generally high risk, not sure which ones gamed the system as I wasn't very interested in the Ouya. Again was their a lot of drama like PGS during their campaigns of these games?

I'm just saying PGS has been a bad campaign from the get go and looking at comments, Kicktraq, and reports at this point should throw enough red flags to end the campaign for KS. Maybe i'm wrong, but if I had any metrics for pulling the plug i'd probably start there. If the campaign looks legit and backers are happy during it I'm not sure KS would do much. I apologize if your examples are showing this but i'm too tired to research it further tonight.

I guess the Smach Z comes close, but still not in the same ball park.

I'd have to think about that one. It's certainly in rare space.

It would be hilarious if one of those guys would sell some stupid bs and then donate all the money to cancer research, build an orphanage or whatever and makes a smug comment like "You should have put your money there in the first place, suckers!".

@Beckers
Dear backers, seems like some of you suspect that we just want to get your money and then run away and then buy Ferraris. No, it's not truth, I personally prefer Lamborghini.
Speaking sincerely, we have a dream represented by the PGS console, this device would be independent of all limitations that platform holders dictate, we all want a device which wouldn't be limited by copyrights. I personally have a desire to play emulators of such consoles: NES, SNES, PSP, SEGA Genesis, SEGA Dreamcast, PS2, Nintendo 64 and, of course, many many PC games. I'd like to have it all in my pocket, preferably with classical buttons control, rather than a touchscreen. And at the same time that device would be my phone and my portable PC as well. I hope you catch this idea. In order for us to have mutual understanding.
Many of you will say "stop talking, give us facts".
We are agree with you and understand it, but these are not just words, this is the dream which should be materialized. We don't need your money, we need your desire to hold such device in your own hands. If so, we will really make it possible.
Some questions remain unanswered, sorry for that, the reply is going to come within the nearest hours.
Our final update is coming TOMORROW.
Best damage control ever! *lmao*

Wait a moment, wasn't there already something like this? I think it was even supposed to get a successor soon.

If he was willing to drop PS2 from the dream then it sounds to me like he might as well just buy a Pyra ;)

Someone posted a story a Russian phone tech site did on the PGS KS. They didn't pull any punches - very harsh. They implied it dishonoured Russia

By the way, they linked to Gr8one post about Kostas .

I don't think so. Most of the people know how to use Photoshop, not GIMP. Most of the people is familiar with Microsoft Office, not LibreOffice. The fact is, we all know software on Linux is enough to fulfill our needs but the audience is much different.

No, it's not truth what some forums say, the prototype really runs the games on its hardware. The hardware is identical to that of the PGS Light version.

Yeah, except for not having a second screen, tilting hinge, telescopic analog sticks, several of the buttons (including shoulders, volume, start/select, etc), any of the ports, webcams, speakers, backlit buttons, proper physical dimensions and probably a variety of other things I'm forgetting the hardware is identical to that of the lesser version of the product almost no one wants.

Well, Kickstarter allows funding a development for a prototype, so they could've done that. But then you can't use the final units as reward.

They probably didn't do this as it would be A LOT harder getting cash for that.

Hi ED,

I am not a big backer for the PGS, but you have posted a few comments on their KS page and actually mentioned, maybe not directly, the PYRA. I don't believe you should be doing this and should stop before you hurt your own rep. I plan on buying the PYRA once the reviews come out if it is good, but you need to be careful.

Thanks.

He mentioned the Pyra to give his comments credibility. Otherwise who is Michael Mrozek (Open Pandora GmbH) to most of those people? He wasn't advertising he was answering questions and clearing up some miscommunication from PGS. I don't need to defend him but you should re-read his comments before jumping to conclusions he's advertising Pyra there, although you are likely just warning him. If I didn't know about the Pyra or preorder a few Pandoras back in the day I might do some googling and see he knows what he's talking about and listen. There was a few backers that commented and thanked him for his input.

I ran into the same issue on the comments where I linked a video with Lon Seidman saying not to back PGS because it didn't look possible, aftward he mentioned GPD in the video as a better choice. I'm not a GPD shill, but some people called me out as one even though I didn't mention GPD in my comment or have ever linked to their Indie gogo campaign. I like ED am just trying to give people some information to make more educated choices with their money.

I don't think his rep will be hurt by this campaign but improved if it turns out to be a disaster (which it 99,9% will unless they actually have a deep pocketed angel investor) or worse a scam.

I saw someone try to link ED to GPD in the comments. They didn't say he was a shill or anything, just hinted that he was on "the other team". I don't get the impression that he plays favorites with hardware, as he is interested as well. My guess is that is why he is a PGS backer. It goes perfectly with his interests/hobbies and is the kind of thing he sells. As we know, if you aren't blindly faithful then you are trying to ruin their "project". They should be much more thankful that he is giving out advice and pointers, not defensive that he is shooting holes in what they say. He had to learn the hard way, and it is sensible to make use of that experience.
