I get that too, running Zaxxon 1.5, old kernel boot.

Do you have codec pack installed?

Seems, like this lib is in the codecpack. I will build a new lib, that doesn't need the codec pack :)

I will upload a pnd now, that doesn't need the codecpack anymore.

When finished, could you please test it a bit, trying to select different magnification modes and if it will run with out the codec pack? I have little time. Also I think performance has suffered a bit, but that could be just me.

Edit: And of course, if tearing is gone ;)

mcobit,

I compiled the latest notaz SDL library myself with the line changes that john4p outlined in post #283 and now every version of PanMAME works without tearing or crashing.

The file size is also around 1.9MB and the one included in your PanMAME 106.1.8 PND is only 533K so I think you need to re build it.

This supports everything the latest built in SDL library does but does not tear in Commando or other games.

So if you want to put those tricks back in I think it would work now.

I compiled it on the Pandora using the C/C++ Development Tools 0.0.39 PND http://repo.openpand...s.freamon.40n8e

I had to instal a missing header to NAND see http://boards.openpa...post__p__131424

Thanks again!!!

EDIT: Removed library from post for more testing

OK, so does my new version work?

Edit: I'll repackage with your lib, I think, maybe there is something wrong with my environment, that I get a different size :(

Edit: Well, with your lib it won't start for ME, as it needs libiconv.so.2

I compiled libiconv now and put it in the package, but performance with your lib seems to be far worse? If my last version on repo works, I think we should use that, as it seems to work, too.

It's happening to me now too. Something went wrong. Recompiling and re-testing.

Could you please test, if latest version on repo works?

I compiled with -O2 what could explain the size difference.

Edit2: Hope you find this. i renamed the thread.

Edit: Anyone please try?

Okay, the C/C++ Development Tools PND exposed the libiconv.so.2 to my system which is actually a symbolic link to libiconv.so.2.5.0.

Copying libiconv.so.2.5.0 to the appdata/panmame/lib and renaming it to libiconv.so.2 works. What games run slower for you?

HOWEVER, your latest PanMAME, 0.106.1.9, works without any of these things!!!

I rebooted a few times just to make sure.
:)

Now how is the touch screen supposed to work?

When I touch it things tend to go crazy. Can the touchscreen be disabled?

I will upload a pnd now, that doesn't need the codecpack anymore.

Edit: And of course, if tearing is gone ;)

I just did a ref-flash of SuperZaxxonB1.1 firmware

PanMAME version:0.106.1.9 works with no tearing or crashing.

I only added roms, samples, and snaps to the appdata/panmame folder.

Thanks to both of you.

The touchscreen should select the rom you touch. That works with notaz lib, but doesn't with the one we compiled for whatever reason. The touchscreen is a joystickdevice afaik, but you could try to disable the mouse in the rc files and see, if that disables it.

Edit: I think neogeostuff like metalslug runs slower than before. I think I was able to play it at 800 and it was near fullspeed, but now even 1000 doesn't seem to cut it.

Edit2: I talked to notaz and he said, that actually doublebuffering is working, but due to timingissues it won't fix the tearing. What the codechanges to the sdllib actually do is enabling tripplebuffering, what eats graphicsmemory like crazy. This is why you can't select higher resolutions.

Did you delete the .advancefolder before updating?

This error should only happen, when you run a recent version with old .advance folder.

If you want to keep buttonmappings, make a backup of advmame.rc before and copy only the buttonmappings back into the file, that will be created with the update.

Strange !! while playing robotron for about 5-10 minutes it made a loud pop then quit back to the panmame list thats happened numerous times now could this be a performance issue? as it doesnt happen if i overvolt and put speed over 900mhz.
