Exophase
Nothing good will ever come of Exophase.

A strategy that tries hard for this could bite you in the ass, surely. Just seems like it'd be worthwhile to do if the situation happens to arrive, which with a preferred mapping it might. I would say that you'd be very very slightly better off storing low and high register halves separately anyway, to improve cache usage a miniscule amount. At the very least I don't see any disadvantage to it, but please let me know if I'm wrong.
At any rate, I really should stop nagging you about such insignificant little things.. just promise to keep us posted when you come up with your next great idea okay? ;D I'm very impressed with your work.
One question - do you have any counts on how many "out of RAM" accesses happen per cycle? If it's small enough then it could be worth it to try to move that to a SIGSEGV handler too. Of course, this is only if enough of the address space will agree with it.
