Mupen64Plus Compatibility List

Hey guys, thanks for reporting how well the games work. It gives me a good idea of what will and won't work when my Pandora arrives. :)

I was wondering if you could test any of the following games for me?

Diddy Kong Racing
Donkey Kong 64 (I'm not expecting this one to work well... :p)
Kirby 64 - The Crystal Shards
Mario Party (any of them)
Paper Mario
Yoshi's Story

Thanks! :)

well, if we're picking favorites, would someone be so kind as to try Space Station Silicon Valley?

I am going to use the actual ROM names from now on, seems much more sensible anyways.

Region: NTSC
Format: z64

Comments: Seemed "playable" to me, not any fun though. Lags noticably, some sprite and model flickering, ingame it is very slow (I loaded the tutorial map). Sound stutter.

Title: Mario Party 2 (U) [!]
Region: NTSC
Format: z64
Emulator Version: mupen64plus-r1b3-fixed-snd (with notaz' sound-plugin)
Status: Playable
CPU Speed: 768
Comments: Seemed "playable" to me, not any fun though. Lags noticably, some sprite and model flickering, ingame it is very slow (I loaded the tutorial map). Sound stutter.

I did not bother trying Mario Party 3. 1 and 2 were very hard to kill

Title: Paper Mario (U) [!]
Region: NTSC
Format: z64
Emulator Version: mupen64plus-r1b3-fixed-snd (with notaz' sound-plugin)
Status: Unplayable
CPU Speed: 768
Comments: Close to Playable but after I endured the flickering and black screens during the intro sequence it ended up with rendering only walls. Had to reset the Pandora to quit. My ROM cache was empty afterwards, only on the next boot it re-scanned it.

Title: Yoshi's Story (U) (M2) [!]
Region: NTSC
Format: z64
Emulator Version: mupen64plus-r1b3-fixed-snd (with notaz' sound-plugin)
Status: Unplayable
CPU Speed: 768
Comments: Menu seemed to load okish, chose "1" whatever that was. Black unresponsive screen. Had to reset the Pandora.

Title: Space Station Silicon Valley (U) [!]
Region: NTSC
Format: z64
Emulator Version: mupen64plus-r1b3-fixed-snd (with notaz' sound-plugin)
Status: Playable
CPU Speed: 768
Comments: Sound stutters. Quite slow framerate, not playable for me. Apart from that it seems to work very well.

PS: what an annoying game, you have to sit through several minutes of unskippable cutscenes.

good stuff. by actual rom names i guess you mean TOSEC rom names? there are other (imo better) naming conventions like no-intro... no-intro only archives known good dumps of each game so the [!] and whatnot isn't needed for them. i would hope everyone is testing using known verified dumps from either tosec or no-intro and not just random images they found on some website...

I use a "goodmerged" set which I also "ungoodmerged" to get rid of a lot of junk.

3 more for the list that Jeff12 requested and I said I'd do. Not great news though.

These are r1b3fs with Notaz sound plugin and frame skip = 2 @800mhz.

I cant confirm if these are TOSEC and are likely random images but have been hosted and mirrored many times so surely work on some emu's. I have tried several versions of each, consuming time as they crashed the USB on an EXT HDD requiring a full shutdown off the mains to get it back. I switched to SD card for the alternate versions to avoid this hassle.

Note to OPT: My prior Pandora #46 never suffered from USB loss and should be reviewed by the OPT as to why perhaps, or used as a review unit.

I made some video of Mario Golf, if anyone is interested I'll up it but frankly I wouldn't bother for now.

Title: Excite Bike 64
Region: U + U (kiosk demo)/E/J
Format: various
Emulator Version: r1b3fs
Status: Not working
CPU Speed: 800mhz
Comments: U version = After initial logo screen it informs you “that controller pak #1 has plenty of save space for ghost trials saving” etc. Then it black screens and requires a soft reset of the Pandora to get out. J version = same. E version = same. U (Kiosk Demo) version shows two logo screens, detects a mem pak, plays a choppy intro with bad sound. Menus are fine but sound messes up after selections. Choosing a race results in black screen, with ongoing correct music. Soft reset required.

Title: Mario Golf
Region: E / U (hack)
Format: various
Emulator Version: r1b3fs
Status: Not working
CPU Speed: 800mhz
Comments: Intro is slow and choppy sound. Notaz sound plug-in improves the speed and at points the sound is correct but has a fast jitter to all of it, that's kinda unbearable. The U hack version is a little smoother on the intro. All menus are rendered fine and sound is good. A blue square of sky in the top left is partially rendered over and behind some screens persitently aswell. A practice game showed that the course is not rendered above the tee except when you move the cursor to aim a shot, then it displays fine. Could be played by fans but is a little slow/choppy and marred by the rendering issues. The U hack version is more playable if you kill the sound and can play partly blind (methanol or aspartame FTW).

Title: Mario Tennis
Region: E / U
Format: various
Emulator Version: r1b3fs
Status: Not working
CPU Speed: 800mhz
Comments: Intro is same as Golf but more rendering issues from the moment the players walk to the court, missing bodies, toad on magic mushrooms doing a good cheshire cat impression etc plus a persistent grey square top left aswell. Menus like golf are flawless with good sound. In game exhibition match gave up the ghost as the first serve was about to be offered to Boo. Again a soft re-set and full shutdown off mains was required to regain USB.
