Backwards-compatibility...is dead. :( Oh well, we can always re-port our apps to use the extra power...

Thank you very much for your continuous interest in our product line.
So far ,the maximun size of SD card is 4GB and you can use it on gpx2.
Thank you^^
As you can see, he said 4.

No backwards compatibility? WAH?! Maybe he was talking commercial games... maybe? 200mhz? I thought it was 250mhz... :(

And it's being released in America?

He changed it and/or a wizard did it.

Also, I just realized that we haven't seen a light switch, which means it's either hidden...or triggered by one of the action buttons AGAIN. I guess there's enough face buttons to go around this time, though.

Sorry DaveC, I posted something in your name at GPX2.com just to check if it was possible. (don´t think some other posts were from you)....

Random idiot impersonator: *insert racist obscenity here*

Gamepark BBS Admin: "Hello,
Thank you for your interest in our product line.
We will do our best to reflect your opinion.
Thank you
Have a great day! ^^"

I think we've gotten most of the facts we're going to get between now and October. I suppose a little pencil trickery/volt modding will get the GPX2 up into 266~300MHz range, which is x68000/Amiga/SNES/CPS2/Neo-Geo territory if the coders are up to it...and that's all the 2D gaming I'll ever need. Besides, for the price it would have took to make emulated GBA/PSX playable, you could *gasp* actually buy a GBA/PSX.

EDIT: I nominate the admin reply to pity's post for Most Unfortunate Engrish Innuendo of the Year.

IMO the GPx2 Specs are just laughable at a price tag of 200$!
its supposed to be cheaper than 200$

Its nothing more than a little advanced and better designed GP32.
But hey! Even the cheaper Nintendo DS is more powerfull - and this thing has GBA direct compatibiliy, 2 Screens, Micro, Touchscreen, WiFI (virtual keyboard!) and more..
so, what exactly makes the ds with a ARM 9 (67 MHz) and a ARM 7 (33 MHz) faster than 2*250mhz arm9?

Anyone recently watched the major PSP Homebrew (Emulation!) development ? Its just crazy, daily emu releases, so to speak. PSP is a little more expensive but its power let the GPx2 look like a SNES compared to the PS1.
more..
the emus you see on it yet arent even as advanced than the ones on gp32, of course some run pretty fast but thats only becouse they clock the psp at 333mhz, accu time anyone?

Two things here:
You dont need to flash the latest firmware (until its cracked).
Or you want to play the latest games.

The controls (analog + digital) are just excellent. And the screen..man the screen..iam telling you, its just blowing away everything. If you want correct apsecs, just dont use fullstretch - still bigger than GP32 / GPx2 screen.
the vertical resulution is actually smaller than the gp one, 220 vs 240 px, wich makes emus on the right aspect ratio actualy smaller, also the screen suffers from heavy tearing.

With the innovations (NDS) and the power (PSP) i see absolutly no reason for the GPx2 in this form. GPx2 ..
- is too expensive for its features
- does not offer a 3D GPU
- has no commecial games
- too weak compared tp its competitors
-it is less expensive than the current gp, wich i got for a bit more than 200e when it was brand new.
- neither do ds, bt it haves 2d hardware.
- so? its ment for homebrew and multi media.
- not at all.

sorry, but you are an idiot

They're going with a single ARM920T (250MHz max), but throwing in TV-out, Wi-Fi, some kind of Korean satellite TV reception, and a widescreen 480 x 272 display.

Yeah, I'd rather just pull a Zodiac off the clearance rack too.

Craig said that on paper the cpu can goto 250mhz, which would suggest that it's a 200mhz processor that can in theory be pushed to 250mhz.

Hmmm, backwards compatibility out the window I see. Not that I was suprised about that.

GPX2 website now states first processor is only 200Mhz
And second processor is only support processor

No!!!!!!! :(

We basically have a Zodiac wannabe on our hands :(

NOOOOO!! faster cpu!!
more memory wouldn't be needed as much if the 64mb nandflash or whatever can store those large rom images.

...aaahhh, i have faith in this system still.

davec needs to post his grievances on the gpx2 website as they are the only ones who will listen and maybe do somthing about it.

I also agree that the design is excellent - Cutting edge, psp style + retro enough, game and watch/neo pocket style - GENIUS!!

yeah, the design is awesome ;)

Now I'm really pissed. Without backwards compatibility and with only a 200 Mhz processor, the GPX2 sucks.

I can quite see how GPX2 would fit in between PSP and NDS. GPX2 would make a great market for itself, though it'd have to stay underdog so Nintendo or Sega wouldn't take a notice...

If GPX2 can fit NeoGeo in somehow, I'll be one happy man.

I won't go as far as N64 or PSone, but if GBA, SNES, NeoGeo and cp1/2 emulator happens, I probably won't even bother getting neither NDS or PSP... no need.

no need at all!
might even sell my psp...after i finally finish metal gear acid.
