Please, i would like to know if there is the possibility to save the progress with some games (metal slug and others) because i don't like to play games every time from the beginning; thanks

Hmm, memory card is supported. You don't have to play from the beginning. Or am I missing something?

Stephan

I tried Metal Slug 1, 2, X and Blazing Star. They all have working memory card support. So please tell me some games without support. Dodonpachi for example ?

I know there's a memory card support, but my problem is that i don't know how to save during the game, for example metal slug; everytime i turn off the console and after i restart the game, i have to play it from the first mission, i'ld like to restart the game from where i leave the progress before; please if you how to do, tell me because it's really annoing to start from the beginning, thanks for any help........

 Sorry, I'm too old-school I guess ... I just think it defeats the feel of the arcade experience of cramped fingers, sore back & stiff neck resulting from hour(s)-long gaming sessions. I think continues are enough, since back in the day, none of us could afford to drop $20-30 worth of quarters to get to the last stage ... (well, I couldn't anyway ;))

Save states are only good for Kid Chameleon ;)

Any chance of getting rage to rememeber what game you last played and position you at it next time you start or return back to rage from gngeo?

You do know that doing that will keep writing to the card and reduce its life right? And also if your batteries go out during a write (common because writes take more juice than reads) your card can get corrupted. That is a bad feature unless you have the option to turn off.
Not so. You can store the position in memory until you exit the frontend/emulator for good and free everything. It would be a very useful feature.

Sure, DrMDx can do that because it has lots of free ram. But what about Neo Geo? It would have to reserve some memory for this savestate.

I knew someone would mention memory. You only need, literally, one or two bytes to save your position in the Rage2x menu. There is absolutely no foreseeable issue of memory availability.

Hi Jycet

Thanks for considering the shoulder use.

As far as remembering what position you was at in the list, why not write it to a ini file when a game is launched, then when gngeo2x launchs the front end after playing, build the game list, get the last used game from the ini file and position at it, before display. If no ini found display from the top.

I would use game name instead of a position number in case new games are added/removed. If the last played game is removed then position at the top of the list...

What do you think?

Can someone explain what I have to do to get this to work with the unibios?

I downloaded 2.2, changed the name (and kept it the same, both copies in the /roms subfolder of gngeo2x) i have changed the config file to both home and unibios for system type. It doesn't work.

i also have 2.2, it's 128kb in size (although i suppose they all are) and i'm using rage2x to launch with it. it's in my roms subfolder. but it works. don't know what else to tell you, maybe you just have a bad one? my gngeorc is set to system=arcade and country=europe (don't remember why i did that). but i don't think it matters at all actually, since the unibios chooses its own settings from what i can tell.

edit: just checked and what's in the gngeorc file doesn't matter at all with the uni-bios.

the uni-bios. there are a few versions, i think i've seen 2, 2.1, and 2.2.

edit: it appears they have versions going all the way from 1 to 2.2. i won't link to the site because it's sort of a grey area, but they maintain an official site that's easy enough to find. think you need to have a regular aes bios for it to work anyway. it just makes certain things a little nicer. before i started using it i couldn't get pulstar to work.

on that note, does anyone know how to get to the main menu in the uni-bios? i can get to the in-game menu but not the main menu.

I don´t know if i mentioned it already, but a pause button would be great.

I know arcade cabinets had no pause buttons, but there are many things that could distract you from playing a handheld, like people that want to talk to you.

pause? if you use unibios just push START+SELECt at the same time for 3sec ;)

Hello,

I have a strange problem with the latest gngeo2x_0.6.11_gfxmod.
Every game I used to play with sound is now very laggy.
Without sound everything is okay, but when I put the sound on (O.C. to 266Mhz) the music is lagging causing grfX to lag too. It's not a problem with small games (Puzzle bobble, Samourai showdonwn 1) but some games are unplayable now (Last Blade 2 for exemple, it's skipping too much frames).

Perhaps I don't set it up properly ?!
