Finding a proper name and logo :)

Since this is going on a clam-shell lid, something to keep in mind is that it's going to get viewed upside-down.

If it is 'right side up' to the person opening the lid to use the device, then it will be 'upside down' to any passers by who see it from behind. The reverse is also true.

Does the logo need some form of vertical symmetry? Or do we default to one perspective or the other?

Generally you want it to serve as an advertisement to an onlooker, so it would appear right side up when viewed from behind.  If you look at the lid of your pandora you'll see it's also done that way.

I don't see any particular need for vertical symmetry, though if it can be worked into a good concept It might be worth a bonus point or two. :)

Good point, i think ill drop the letters inside the knot, didnt really work as well as it did with just the fontologo alone. It lost symmetry in every direction with the letters

That being said, the right way up is the thinkpad way, (with respect to yourself closing the screen) not the apple way (for onlookers)

A much subtle one could be gorgonode, but that would just be two of the old to make the new. And it doesnt have that schwung to it.

Celtic art dragons are more known than gorgon, with the exception to medusa, which is not a mental segway from gorgon unless you read about it.

The connection to dragon knot is better.

Gorgon doesnt thave the best connotations. Not that pandoras box was any better in this respect, and that seemed to work.

Dunno, I always thought that the story of Perseus and the Medusa was pretty well known. Although the reuse of the chief gorgon's name in the current tv production bearing the name 'Atlantis' as an apparently sympathetic human female character perhaps disproves that.

Btw: What about Medusa? Ok she has nothing to do with dragons but snakes are cool, too! :)
Then suggest a snake name.  The character Medusa herself isn't very cool, just another human drawn differently.  Asmodeus was an interesting snake.

Yes she has, her brother Ladon is a dragon.

If you like Gorgons, there is also Medusas less known brother Stheno and her sister Euryale.

Yes like Pandora she is a female character from ancient Greek mythology. Where is the problem?

Oh ok, didn't know that. :)

Just a thought...

How about the DragonBox Trove?

It brings to mind the treasure a dragon would be guarding.

* The clamshell design is like opening a treasure chest.

* The features and capabilities of the device and like the treasure itself. :)

it is a very english word that doesnt sound good in other languages. It sounds like a good holiday resort, notsomuch an electronic device.

What about a logo that isn't vertical symmetric, but nervertheless can be looked upon from both sides?

-Like those optical illusions where a hill becomes a crater?

-or those happy/unhapy faces, or woman/ men, old young..
