COVID-19 / Coronavirus Pandemic

The most important thing is individuals having a choice.
Dead individuals don't have a choice. For them to have a choice we first need to keep them alive (unless they choose suicide). So you're basically saying healthier and richer individuals deserve more freedom.
In a unfettered pandemic excess deaths are positive. If excess deaths are negative it's due to an over reaction.
So you'll never be happy. Same exact number of deaths as circumstances change, new pandemics come, etc is an unrealistic expectation.
Pandemics are exponential phenomena, throtling measures to keep the curbes flat is doomed to fail. There's also long COVID and other uundesirable outcomes of COVID, not only death.
Of course lockdown means fewer deaths across the board but this is irrelevant. Individual freedom is too precious.
I don't see why my neighbor should have the freedom to kill me. Even if he just meant to party. All businesses have sanitary restrictions (against salmonella, legionella or against COVID).
That's the function of governments. If you want absolute freedom and anarchy you don't want governments at all, but then you get pandemics (unless your population is much wiser than it is).
A government restricting gatherings because they may boost opposition is abusive, restricting gatherings because they replicate killer viruses is not.

Actually i'm rather happy atm. In the UK if you get covid now you can do as you like. If you want stay in bed you can. If you want or need to work you can. People don't look at you as though you're a murderer if you don't wear a mask anymore. We've had so many waves it's only rational to be prepared to get it. Restrictions are useless.

Moderna Creates New Ebola Virus Vaccine As New Ebola Outbreak Begins
Moderna is already collaborating with partners on vaccines against some of the 15 pathogens, which include Chikungunya, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, Dengue, Ebola, Malaria, Marburg, Lassa fever .
smell that? It's the smell of big money...

Big money was almost certainly required to cover the testing and the machinery used to create this new vaccine, but if you think they're going to make big profits over a vaccine against a pathogen that most affects poorer parts of Africa, then you've got a different understanding of reality than I have.

but if you think they're going to make big profits over a vaccine against a pathogen that most affects poorer parts of Africa
Yes. And maybe not by selling it to Africa. But by the wave of buzz and P.R.
How does it work? I have a vaccine. I get a Unicef sponsorship, I get a WHO sponsorship. I get volunteers that can use a needle. I fly them over with the money of the sponsorship. I create a taskforce and pay them with the sponsorship. Once there, I ask for more money. Get a binding deal to ensure your monopolization of the area. Meanwhile, the buzz made sure the stocks skyrocketted. Buy them so that they go up even more. Now you've got growth, which attacks investors, which in turn will make you more money... wait... you're not good at this capitalistic game, are you? Start small, by selling seashells.
Of course, there are some rules, like not selling RNA that, say, make your cells produce insulin, that would crash the current insulin market. Instead, promise telomere replacement, the "you will live forever" vaccine. This will attack some rich investors. Invest in labs all over the world, that will find that, within the next 10 years and keep shifting the ETA. While your old investors start dying, say you are sorry and that you are so close, if only they had more time. Get your company in their will, with the promise to keep helping out Africa. Meanwhile, bundle the deals in Afrika: We get to keep some of their resources in exchange for almost-free vaccinations (which your sponsors pay for already). The resources deals go to these other sponsors, that will be glad that they sponsored you, and will keep on sponsoring you.

you know, modern capitalism 101...

Yes, sometimes there are fallbacks, like countries refusing the help:

We are trying to make it illegal (that countries can refuse our help). But it's legal, for now:

I don't have a big problem with that. The only problem is if they achieve monopoly, and due to the explosion in vaccine research recently, I don't see how they can achieve a monopoly for very long. The company might achieve a monopoly in the first countries they get access to, but not all of them, and then only for a limited time, if unicef and the big donors know how to spend money, which they've had plenty of practice at by now.

Sure, scamming gullible investors is the main for of entertainment for economists. But scammed investors stop investing, in the main, so it's a self limiting event.

so it's a self limiting event.
Nah, people forget. Change your name, change your board. Same company, different image. Take Monsanto, now Nestle... or any new ponzi scheme... despite of older ponzi schemes in the news.... people are gullable.

A covid summit hosted in France, those four days talks are exclusively done by medics, academics and researchers from the CNRS and INSERM.

In case of big pharma censorship, they provide a lot of alternative links:

I hope the WHO listens to the new protocols defined, instead of those in 2020 that actually killed people in the ICU. (although many hospitals changed already to different ones)

For the blind who still don't see how we were manipulated at a planet scale:

"The settlements come after lawsuits unearthed a trove of documents showing how McKinsey worked to drive sales of Purdue Pharma’s OxyContin painkiller amid an opioid crisis in the United States that has contributed to the deaths of more than 450,000 people over the past two decades."

The CDC says there are only 10,000 COVID-19 hospitalizations in the entire United States right now, and I heard on the news this morning that this is the lowest amount of hospitalizations since the beginning of the pandemic.

Still waiting on that BA.2 wave.

Omicron XE, first discovered in UK, found to be 10% more transmissible than BA.2, according to a WHO report.

In the UK, we're in the middle of a BA.2/XE wave. so our hospitals are fuller than ever, but compared to January, more people have complications as well as having Covid. Only a smaller percentage than the January max have only Covid to worry about.

Well, I know one guy who’s not going to get COVID.

Buying a vaccination pass from him would be unethical in many cases because you would be paying for a human being to get vaccinated while knowing that the vaccines are dangerous.
He's still alive, so at least we know 90 jabs would be something possible to survive. Would be interesting to track this persons condition in the coming years.
