    Orders, Orders Everywhere...

Do you really think that is absolute? There are exceptions to every rule. As someone else posted, respect is mutual. I'm not saying alibee's points are wrong per se, just that he could've been more constructive about it.

    How Gbax.com Orders Are Going??

I had the same thing... ordered on Sept 24th, received an email early yesterday asking for my phone number for UPS, which I provided a couple hours later. After waiting a full day for a response, I sent another email this morning, politely requesting to know how much of a delay this would...

    Orders, Orders Everywhere...

A number of people in this thread are making out like all the original poster did was "ask a question". He didn't just "ask a question", he was downright rude & insulting. He started out expressing his view with this lovely bit: "First, pull your finger out Craig". If I had been bending over...

Stereo Borked. Channels Switched, Speakers Mono.

Well sure you can switch the channels in software, but with the GP32 (which had reversed speakers) it was always a manual setting to switch the channels in the programs that had that feature, so I assume the headphone jack couldn't be detected automatically, and that this would also be true for...

Has someone else with a unit confirmed this?

    Lucas Art Games ?

The first animated GIF I ever made was of Laverne's crazy psycho walk. Still cracks me up every time.

    How Gbax.com Orders Are Going??

Could be... I'm in Canada. As for GBAX, I think you are right that they got more preorders than they were expecting to handle... hence the all-nighters they're pulling now. I gotta respect that, especially if they really do get all pre Oct-16 orders (read: MINE :P) out by the end of tonight.

    How Gbax.com Orders Are Going??

Ditto me for the 24th. Patience brother! Tonight we wait. Tomorrow we feast! :D

    How Gbax.com Orders Are Going??

I believe the term pre-order is most commonly used to refer to items paid for in advance. Wikipedia agrees. Regardless, it's not like they secretly took your money in advance, so I still don't really understand your complaint. It was very clear that the product was not available yet, and you...

    How Gbax.com Orders Are Going??

If they could send it immediately it wouldn't be a "pre-order", it would just be an "order". A pre-order is, by definition, not available yet. Craig, thanks for posting an estimate of the cutoff date. Hopefully that will reduce the inquiries. I am humbled by the number of units you guys...

    How Gbax.com Orders Are Going??

Ordered mine on Sept 24th, no email yet. With my luck, the cutoff is precisely between Sept 22 and 24. ;) I am patient though... just as long as I get it before XMas holidays and some long plane flights. ;)

    Delayed?!

I suspect one major factor this time was the massive exposure of the Slashdot story on Sept 17th. Slashdot is read by hundreds of thousands of geeks daily, most of whom love Linux and all things Open (architecture, source code, etc). The GP2X is a perfect fit for that audience.

    Gp2x Game Development Update

x86 did not have an included FPU until the 486DX. 386 and 486SX supported an optional FPU (80387 and 80487). So emulating a 286 shouldn't have to worry about FPU at all. But as DaveC said only a handful of MHz are probably realistic. I don't think PSX has FPU either... however it has a lot...

Real Gp2x Photo (ooooh Noooo - Volume Control)

Well, !Reader can handle webpages complete with embedded images. Not too shabby. :)

Real Gp2x Photo (ooooh Noooo - Volume Control)

Hmm.. you are right, the top is misaligned. Obviously I didn't look at it as well as I thought. That certainly does makes it look more like a paste in. As for the other points such as colour vibrancy, I did concede it was too bright and likely had been colour enhanced in PS after...

Real Gp2x Photo (ooooh Noooo - Volume Control)

I'm probably beating a dead horse here, but I see no reason to conclude the photo is faked. (Possibly colour enhanced, but not a fake screenshot pasted on top) I don't know where 640x480 came from, the actual pixel size in the photo of the screen image is about 460x340, and as someone pointed...

Quake Already Ported To Gp2x (YES! It's true!)

Won't it be possible to write a firmware that lets the user select between Linux and a bare bootstrap SD loader, with a simple menu or holding a button on boot or something?

    Usb On The Gp2x

Being able to transfer photos directly from my digicam to my GP32 was something I always wanted. What I want to know though, is what kind of cable will work for connecting two USB client ports together? Is there a "USB on-the-go" cable we can use or something?

Quake Already Ported To Gp2x (YES! It's true!)

Unfortunately this won't happen. :( WINE actually stands for Wine Is NOT a (CPU) Emulator... it only provides a Windows API on existing x86 hardware.

    Best/notable C64 Games?

SPACE TAXI! I used to love this game. Hopefully this will work properly on the GP2X... the GP32 Frodo port had some sprite collision bugs which unfortunately made it unplayable. Impossible Mission is still one of the best games ever made IMHO... randomized gameplay means endless...
