I Just Got My Gp2x!!!

Well, I have a set of 2100 mAH in at the moment and they've been in around an hour and they still say 'full' battery. I have 2 sets of 2500mAH's which I'm going to try and see what I can get out of them later.

And one question if you don't mind me asking, what's the easiest/best way to see how far you can overclock your 2X?

except for getting a million air bubbles and dust particles under the protector

Make sure you have peeled off the extra film from the screen protector, as they usually have both front and back films.

Also, it's possible yours already had a protector pre-installed, if it's a new Mk2. Double protection!

Ordered mine in the last hour or so, should get it early this week, I can't wait. :D

Hi btw :)

Played some more with my GP2X today. I just can't get enough of this baby!

I HIGHLY recommend the "Candy" skin. Now my GP2X looks better than any handheld device I have ever owned.

Tried ScummVM (awesome!) too. I am just loving this. I can't recommend the GP2X more. Nothing touches it in my eyes.

Just got mine today and am thrilled to bits despite not having played any games on it. I've yet to take off the film on the front (still confused by the whole screen protecting business) but have uploaded some music and a video so everything works. Just need to get the emulators and games now. :D

Haven't been able to get this to work yet, tried Full Throttle, I must be doing something stupid but not sure what, when I add a game it tell me no data files in the folder. Ah well, enjoying everything else about my GP2X so far.

Hey everyone. I just got my Gp2x from gp32z.com. I had ordered from Lik-Sang when they had the $169 sale. They sold out, and changed my order to a mk2, and raised the price back to $189. I cancelled the Lik-Sang order after everyone was shipping except them. So for $204 incl shipping I got the 2x and hardcase. I am very impressed with the device so far. Also, if anyone cares, I am using a 4gb Ridata card that seems to be working flawlessly so far. The emulators are really looking good, and I'm looking forward to trying out some HomeBrew game making myself.

Got Full Throttle working on ScummVM Kor, which is nice. :D

Yep, great stuff! I recommend the floppy versions of the games if you can find them. With these, you can store a whole slew of games on your memory card and not have to use a ton of space.

I got mine a couple of weeks ago, Mk2, and I swear to GOD it did NOT have a screen protector on it. And now my GP2X has got in an argument with my phone in my pocket and got a light scratch right across the middle of the screen. :(

Hi all. I just ordered my GP2X from gp32z today. I've been waiting for the new revision, and it's finally here. I'm looking forward to Rise of the Triad the most. :D

I think people are not understanding the meaning of what the "screen protector" really is. It is not the traditional screen protector you are thinking of. It os the ACTUAL screen that you see. It can be taken off and replaced. That is the screen protector that you had to put on in the first GP2X release. In other words, what you scratched IS your screen protector. $7 will replace that :)

I certainly don't understand now.

With the MK1's wasn't it a thin flimsy piece of plastic that people got seperate and had to attach ?
As previously mentioned in another thread (I believe by daveC) this was essentially a screen protector protector. i.e with the mk1 you got a sturdy plastic screen protector allready on the machine, plus a thin flimsy protector to attach yourself.

With the MK2s it just seems to be the sturdy plastic screen protector. There is no thin flimsy protector.
Furthermore - it doesn't appear that the sturdy plastic screen protector can be changed without opening up the machine (unless I am missing something).

I would have thought (but am probably wrong) that the thin flimsy protector, would be easier and cheaper to replace as and when required, rather than replacing the the sturdy plastic protector.

I just got my GP2X yesterday, fresh from the UK. I have to admit I'm totally confused by the screen protector issue. It would seem that different versions have different protectors. I read above there may be as many as 4. Mine came with a "soft whitey-grey" strip on the battery row area, and a big clear square piece with a tab on the side covering the screen, made out of a different material (clear) which goes dark (like its wet) with bubbles (that are nigh impossible to get out) when you press it harder. That's all I can find. I have tried "peeling" the screen back to see if there is a protector there with no success, it seems to be made of a glass/perspex.

Considering the number of questions about it, tt would be lovely if someone made this a FAQ item and included photos of each protector. I'm not sure if I'm missing something, or if I need to order something extra, or the $7 thing is replacement perspex or...

I do love this thing, and want to treat her right, without getting too anal about it...

The sturdy plastic cover is the screen protector. You can add another protector (standard one you are thinking of) to that one, but why? You can buy spare sturdy plastic covers for cheaper than you can an average screen protector. It does come off without opening the unit. It just has some sticky adhesive, but it can be pryed off and replaced. Check www.gp32z.com for $7 replacements. I purchased an extra because I know I will eventually scratch the screen.

BTW: With the MK1's it was the sturdy hard plastic part that people got separate, believe it or not! I was shocked when I received my first one that way. It made me feel like I had to finish building the unit :) But when you think about it, it is an awesome idea. The possibility to make a scratchproof glass cover to replace that exists as well. Hope someone makes one!

I did it. I have a glass cover on mine. It is a PAIN to do though. Cutting the glass is the easy part. The hard part comes when you put on the black border on the back. It is alot of measuring, cutting etc. Then you have to clean any mange on the glass and take on the almost insurmountable task of keeping dust off of the glass and the LCD before you seal it for good, aaarrrgh. It seems LCDs and screen covers are made from materials that can suck in dust from across the room. Not the easiest mod out there.

Hmm, you wouldn't consider doing this mod for a fellow GP2X user for a fee, would yah? :D

I am new here and i am looking forward to getting my very own GP2X one of these days (i expected it today, but it didn't come  ). I cannot wait to start tinkering with it. I am a programming student so i am looking forward to developing software for this thing. Makes me feel warm inside just thinking about it !
