Firmware 1.2.0

They'll release it by Monday, and it's a specific fix for Toshiba-made SD cards.  I don't know what SD cards are manufactured by Toshiba, though.

Loads and loads of cards use Toshiba flash so if the 1.2.1 update fixes them and stablises SD support (and not make things worse) then it could be a very good update :).

Hello from cold Prague BTW!

Hi update worked fine here no probs with a lexar 128m card + i had custom skin allready installed and now my USB finaly works on 2.0 :)

I installed the firmware with my sandisk 1 gig sd card and it went smoothly for the most part. however i now have two issues I didn't have before:

1) sometimes after selecting my sd card for games or whatever it will show up blank. i can just go back and select it again and it works but someone said the firmware changes how the sd card is read so I thought it was worth mentioning.

2) my video player now no longer has the sound and video in sync. I've never had a problem with the video player using the other firmware updates but now I cant get any videos to play properly. Is there anything I can do seeing as you are supposed to be able to go back once you go with this upgrade.

also I've had the diagonal wavy line with video playback and some games with pretty much all the firmware I've tried. the cpu lcd tweak utility fixes that but I was wondering if others haven't had that problem fixed with the firmware and had to use the lcd tweak to get rid of it. also is there a way I can not have to use the lcd tweak each time I power on the system.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to make a list of SD cards I have access to and see if someone has had any luch with any of them for the 1.1.0 OR 1.2.0 upgrades (yes I am still running 1.0.1):

16Mb SanDisk SD
64Mb SanDisk SD
512 SanDisk Mini-SD card (with miniSD -> SD converter) <- Works for reading games

If none of these work with Firware upgrades (and after firmware upgrades) can someone tell me a card that DOES work for upgrades AND after upgrades.... I would like to get a card that I can rely on, as at the moment I am too skeptical to try any of the cards I have access to.

Thanks.

Just wanted to say it worked for me the first time. Used Dj Willis' instructions with the default skin. I have a 512 meg San Disk Ultra II.

Is it ok to go straight from 1.1.0 to 1.2.1? Or do I need to upgrade to 1.2.0 before upgrading to 1.2.1?

I haven't upgraded yet, and from the sounds of it, I'll wait until 1.2.1 comes out. :)

Did they get the low-battery light working yet? I really could use that.

The TV-Out feature working for everything... that sounds really nice! :D Now if only there were some kind of multiplayer capability...

About the 4-way menu,
Is it actually a properly implemented one, or do down and up just skip 4?
I realise that most skins do use a standard layout, but some don't and they often look cooler.

1.21? I thought the newest was 1.2

If have got the problem with SD card (integral 512Mb) not being recognised. What do I need to do to go back to stable firmware? Is it just a case of installing 1.1 again? I have applied the patch from 1.2, will this affect anything?

Thanks

Yes mate, thats what I did. works fine.

I applied the software patch also, got the new picture viewer and 4 way menus, however my videos no long work. Not a major problem as 1.2.1 should be out soon.

I just upgraded, no problems (no 3rd party patches/skins, using a SanDisk 1GB card). My USB on WinXP is still unhappy (Windows claims my "device is defective" unless I plug it into a USB 1.0 hub, and then it claims that my "device could work faster" - you can't win :))

does GP2x support 16mb or 64mb SD cards? I have 2 small sandisk (or maybe they are Toshiba) ones that I want to use for FW Update, because my 512mb Sandisk Mini-SD with Converter obviously won't work.

Thanks for any help.

Well, it seems the PNY 1gb card does not work (isn't being read) with 1.2.0, considering everyone else here that posted with it couldn't get it to work and neither can I.

On a side note. I decided to try downgrading to patch 1.1.0(which worked fine for my card), than installing the 1.2.0 patch, than upgrading to 1.2.0. Still couldn't get my card read. Downgraded back to 1.1.0. My boot screen reads 1.1.0, but I'm getting 1.2.0 features.

Someone mentioned that video is corrupt, which is very true, as I found this result as well.

My picture viewer works, as well as DrMDX Snes9x, and the orinigal NES emulator. I do have the TV out cable, but I don't have s-video in my tv, so can't test it out for you guys.

I can wait a few days without video till 1.2.1 since I can now read my Manga =)

If you should get anything out of this post, it's that PNY 1gb cards do not work with the new update.

if you want tv-out, places like radio shack have female-to-female s-video to rca jack adapters...not sure of price because I have s-video, so I bought the-female to-female s-video to s-video adapter for around $5.95

My 32 MB sandisk SD card works fine on firmware version 1.0.1.
However i've never tried upgrading the firmware and windows resists all attempts to work with it (tried everything and then some). Linux works fine with a 'mount /dev/sda /mnt/usb'.

If anyone actually verified if small SD cards work on new firmware, it would make me really happy :)

any idea as to when USB 2.0 will be properly supported? It's a pain having to rmmod ehci_hcd on my linux comps and not being able to use the gp2x at school with the windows boxes where I dont have the privledges required to disable ehci.
