I think people arent impressed with the clock speed because they dont realise how much work the 2d chip will take away from the processor. Part of the reason the gp32 is so slow is becuase the processor is processing, blitting, and drawing to the screen. With the new 2d chip handling the blitting/drawing and the like with all be dealt with bt a chip seperate to the main processor leaving the main processor to happily process other things mich means the gpx2 should be a lot faster
 
I'm gonna have to wait and see how this fares...
If a scene for it happens and theres enough new emulators and stuff for it... I'll prolly get one... But im not gonna jump the gun and get one soon, before any dev has been able to make anything for it...

If 250 is the high end of the clockspeed on the processor.. I'm dissapointer... My gp32 can already go to 200 Mhz...
 
I'm surprised no one has mentioned yet that it states "Copyright protection by certified DRM" on the GPX2 site. Maybe the ARM Protection Unit present on the 940T core will be tied into this :(

Edit ^^^ Not that this is a bad thing for software companies. Maybe it will hinder the 2nd core's usefulness though? I don't know. Seeing DRM made me shudder :p

I think the "CPU which has 2D accelerator" actually refers to the 940T core, granted the way they word it on the GPX2 site *could* make it sound like a seperate 2D accelerator CPU but I don't think that is the case. People also need to find out what the processing core's themselves are capable of instead of making wild claims as to what Mhz the GPX2 will clock to <_<

Having two cores would be nice for some emulation as the 2nd core could offload some processing, however this will be harder to code for than one core (a la GP32). Existing GP32 emulators could be ported relatively easily depending on how the whole firmware/Linux OS thing is implemented. I expect that to get the significant speed boosts people are looking for would require using the 2nd core as well though, which means a lot of changes to code (presuming the 2nd core even turns out to be that useful).

the high end for you gp is 133mhz, evrything else is overclocking, and i bet you will also be able to overclock the new one.

Or is the successor actually the XGP, and even though two different GamePark's are handling it, they are both working together on each one?

Well not if the gpx2's sdk is implemented properly then graphics hardware processing should be realatively easy
For example is SDL (the only game library i know how to program in) enable hardware acceleration as opposed to software emulation takes a few lines at maximum and 1 word at minimum

Damn is the version 2 come out and it's alot better than version... than I guess I'm better of waiting awhile longer to see how it turns out.

okay, not had the time to read all the posts...but here's my 2 pence...

it's not a proper GP32 sequel...more of a 'putting right the wrongs of GP32'.

more beef to help with the emus
built in light
built in divx

probably more I'm missing, but to me this seems to be a console that meets what we'd have wanted GP32 to be if it could have been better.

I'm half expecting a sub £100 price point to boot :)

no, they are referring to the next generation system, which going by the lifespan of the gp32 should arrive late 2009/early 2010.

Or in other words, 'there is no way we could implement the things you want us to do, because the bloody thing is almost on the production line, so tough titty.'

My Korean is a little sketchy, so don't hold me to that.

But existing code, such as emulators that have portions of code that are written in assembler, will need major re-writes to take advantage of the 2nd core. Even if the GPX2 SDK is written around the 2nd core, existing code will still have to be majorly re-written to take advantage of the new and different SDK. SDL will itself have to be ported to the GPX2 to take advantage of the new hardware. A single core ARM CPU that was faster wouldn't have had anywhere near as many problems in porting existing GP32 code.
