Gpx2 Unvailed!!

I'm all for "not bothered about touchscreen". Hell, I wouldn't use it probably.

But "no way touchscreen sucks" or whatever seems a bit silly. It's not harmful in any way.

If you can actually FIND buddies around you who have the system, why not just use a link cable or something similar?

Eh, think about it. You have a machine, USB-port, a TV-out, and buddies. Hello?

You have a TV (to plug the TV-out lead into), You have electricity (to power the TV), So you must be in doors. Just go to the computer, Switch it on and load up your favorite emulator, Sorted. :D

yes, that too... but if you want to play a multiplayer homebrew game that was made for the system... then that's the only way you can do it... with the system. So just use some kind of link cable or whatever they use for wireless multiplayer between machines. The TV is unnecessary.

Nonononono! :)

1 GPX2, 1 USB pad to plug to the GPX2, 1 buddy, 1 cord to TV, 1 TV. 1 two-player game.

And we might not be at my home, by my computer. Visiting grandma, who doesn't have a PC with emulators.
Those basic cases you carry GP32's with, they could easily hold the cable, maybe even the extra pad. If not, get a bigger bag!

If I can play a game trough tv instead of the relatively small LCD, I will.

Play anytime, enjoy anywhere. :D

Exactly my idea (I also posted it at the GPx2 suggestion page). It would definitly be a nice additional feature.

Also a TV out would rule as a portable VCR, go to a friend's house, and connect the TV to your GPx2 and watch any movie you got on your SD.

Nothing comfirmed yet. But $200 is around £115, Which is cheaper than the GP32 original was, Which is what craig was saying.

Btw: Posted from my GPX2. :p

just a guess but given that the arm11's there are high end CPUs, you won't be seeing them in anything other than PDAs that cost more than £300 for a while...

Oh, okay, I understand now. I didn't really care either way, I was just trying to understand the reasoning behind wanting it.

Very interesting. And a bit disappointing.

The PSP is better hardware for the money - for those who don't realize it, the PSP also has 2 CPU's - ask Squidge. And both can go faster than the GPX2's. PSP also has more versatile controls, the screen is nearly an inch bigger, and it has many commercial games as well as homebrew. And for those who have not experienced the latest emus on PSP yet - they are incredible (much better than GP32 & Zodiac's), and it's only been a few months since emus were dev'd for PSP.

Speaking as someone who was just playing some PCE-Engine CD games and NeoGeo CD games at full speed, full screen on PSP, it's hard to warm up to the PCX2. Too little too late IMO. The only good thing here is keeping compatability with the GP32. But honestly, the PSP is still better. I may sell my BLU and get a GPX2 out of sheer curiosity, but it's not any real competition to the PSP, neither commercially or for homebrew.

i don't think it is meant to compete with PSP or any game system. i think its geared as a media player with gaming just being an added bonus. well that is the impression that i get anyway

Except the whole wrestling with Sony about the Firmware updates, which essentially makes you choose either homebrew/emu or commercial games.

Any money the PSP GTA (the only substantial thing coming out for that thing this year *rolls eyes*) will require a FW upgrade making homebrew impossible (until/if that FW gets cracked).

With gpx2, great emus/homebrew and no FW hassles. That's a big deal.

The PSP is more powerful but it is less than perfect for emulation. The D-pad is not that good, the screen is bigger but the wrong aspect, making everything look all distorted when stretched or small when not. Then there is the annoying ghosting that can get real bad. So one has power one has a better layout. The PSP is not the end all-be all of emulation. It is for commercial games though. I guess it will be good to have both.
