Preparing for a Prototype


It is 2D, but perhaps not in the way you're thinking. It uses a lot of scaling and a hell of lot of rotation functions, so I guess that's actually using GL/es rendering for speed. Might have a few dependencies on other work being done therefore, so maybe a day 2-months(tm) rather than a day 1.

FWIW, I consider if to be Worms with gravity, but I don't know this game Angry Birds Space.

Well, with 2D gravity as opposed to 1D. Ooh boy is it satisfying when you guess the mass (space curvature) of the intervening asteroids and score a long range hit!

Was fun with 3 or more players, so maybe we can get a game together someday.
 
In the near future, games like Hase where you shoot to destroy will be mandated to shoot praise grenades and if you hit your target, their self esteem goes up.
 
It has been a while since I last updated this. There are now purported 512GB microSDXC cards. Be VERY careful if you're seeking these out. There are clearly more fakes out there than real, but supposedly some real ones exist. The most likely to be real could be:

Sandisk announced a 1TB sdxc card over two years ago - but that has never actually been made available for purchase. Currently the maximum capacity for the SDXC slots is also 512GB.

So, since I periodically create a 'max theoretical pocketable Pyra storage' article. it is time to update.

32GB - The Pyra is slated to have a 32GB internal eMMC drive.
512GB - Behind the battery door there is a microsdxc slot.
512GB - Left sdxc slot (current maximum sdxc orderable)
512GB - Right sdxc slot

1568GB = 1.5+TB max internal storage without adapters

Pocketability is still possible with very low profile USB to microsdxc adapters like these:

well as it is a THEORETICAL maximum would they still not count? Like the PYRA they are available for pre order.

well, to be fair, there are functioning prototypes in the hands of users, so the theoretical maximum must be higher than 0GB. I don't think they'd send out prototypes for a 1TB SD card, although I could be wrong.

I believe that @Askarus and a few others have had early prototypes for some time now. There were also several people with development boards. Early prototype Pyras exist. The issues they helped find are/have being/been corrected for. The project feels like it is on the cusp of completion.

The next set that goes out will be to a set of developers and the eight prototype pre-purchasers. I'm the only one of those eight that has admitted to handing over the price of a premium laptop on the promise of a project that might some day put a computing device in my hands that the Keebler Elves would envy. (That is a bit of an inside joke - when my wife saw me using my Pandora for the first time she said, "The Keebler Elves called. They want their computer back.")

I'm looking forward to the developments over the next few weeks - it should be an exciting time for the Pyra.

now thats not practical due to sheer cost of those cards...
 
I guess it depends what theory your theorising about. If the theory is that the Pyra is released tomorrow, the max µSD card is 512GB. But if your theory is that everything that's preorderable today is out tomorrow, then you can include a 1TB card there. In the context of this thread, it's not clear which theory your subscribing to implicitly, although I so far have been able to work it out from what you say I think.

The difference, is that 1TB SDXC cards (and the Pyra for that matter) are currently listed and orderable from what -I- consider to be reputable vendors.

1TB SDXC cards were announced in 2016. They were not included then because there was no supply chain commitment to them.

Yes, 1TB microSDXC cards have been announced in 2018, but there is currently no reputable store where you can order them from.

I debated whether to list the 1TB SDXC Lexar card in this or wait until they were shipping. I had the time to update the write-up and I trust BHPhotovideo to not take orders for things that they were not sure they would be able to deliver on, so I put 1TB SDXC cards in my post.

If you truly wanted to be 'theoretical' and ignore whatever the current reality is, you could claim that since the theoretical maximum storage of the SDXC format is 2TB per card, and by the arrangement above the Pyra can hold 5 cards and still fit, running, into a pocket, then THAT theoretical limit would be 10TB.

I chose a set of boundaries and methodology for my series of posts on this. I deliberately left out announced but not yet purchasable data cards. I also limit to what can be directly accessible hard-plugged into the Pyra AND not have a bunch of cords or dongles hanging off of it AND still be able to potentially put it in a front pants pocket. (See also Lee Presson and the Nails, "Big Pants Dance"). You are welcome to scroll back on this thread. I believe I have been relatively consistent in these parameters.
