The Caring Corner :)

Apologies for the shameless rant to follow...

Couple of days ago we got a "REMOVAL NOTICE" from some bailiffs. Scary letter, hand delivered stating "I attended these premises today at ... to arrange payment under the terms of a warrant issued on behalf of the above client. Despite previous visits and notices this matter has not been settled..." and "Please note that the amount now due is ... If this amount is NOT PAID IN FULL, IMMEDIATELY, a further call will be made, without notice, to take control of goods and potentially remove for sale for public auction. Such action will render you liable to further substantial costs..." [highlighting as per the letter]

Thankfully, it wasn't us who were named on the warrant, but it did come out of the blue (no previous notices or visits, contrary to the statement in the letter), and was apparently for a previous owner who wasn't even the owner preceding us. Likely they left more than two years ago (the debt mentioned on the letter was dated in 2014).

What bothers me is that they can send such intimidating letters to innocent people. clearly without doing any kind of research (a quick google can find when houses have been bought and sold), and what's more, the letter contained personal information addressed to their client, unsealed but yet marked "PRIVATE AND CONFIDENTIAL".

Admittedly I phoned up, and hopefully now it's sorted, but their tone wasn't exactly friendly, and no mention of a "sorry".

Plus it was a nice wind-down from a long week's work have received it on the Friday night of a bank holiday weekend when I got home. Not.

I wonder if it wasn't a scam of some sort, the kind not launched by lawyers and the like, just scammers who've found the old addresses for some people. If it doesn't name you, and especially if you didn't give your full name when calling them, they shouldn't be able to take you to court, even if they have ill intent, although I guess they might be able to get the baliffs to turn up in the absolute worst case, if they can convince a court the old residents still live there. Proper scammers wouldn't bother with the court system though, just sending out as many of these letters as possible and hoping a few people pay up.

I did check the name of the company, as there were just mobile numbers on the letter and called them directly. I believe they are legitimate, but that also doesn't mean I would trust them. They're in the business of intimidating people to pay them money, after all... unfortunately even after caling their main office, they still insisted I needed to call the "investigating officer" as it seems they are autonomous once given a client to collect from.

For those that remember, our plight is still ongoing, but nearing the end of the tunnel. Hopefully it's resolved by Monday.

Problem is, I don't know if she'll make it to Monday without some extra support.

I've had to cancel my Pyra after all - I just couldn't manage it and my bills and her all at once, so I sacrificed that to keep the other two in order. Friends have kept helping me out (again, with full disclosure and information to those who've helped), and now the local District Attorney is involved as well since it turned out the lawyer we'd had massively screwed us by not putting in money we'd given him - forcing us to pay things twice before we could try to get the check. One last not-timely charge prevented us from getting it on Friday like we were supposed to, and we have to wait until Monday to try to claim it since the guy who handles those doesn't work weekends. We're saved once we get the check.

Good news is the DA said that we've paid enough off that they can take the remainder out of the check.

Bad news is anything can happen in the next 36 hours, and if my co-worker's daughter gets arrested, even on false charges, that crooked lawyer can reopen each and every thing he's closed for her while he was our lawyer, and then my co-worker is absolutely up shit's creek.

And I didn't even get through finishing this post when I got notice two more false warrants got filed by the same bitch who'd been messing with them months ago, so that's another $100 gone, and that drops me even lower to breaking point. I can't keep expecting my friends to stretch their wallets every time, either.

I don't know if anyone here wants to help, and I realize this could be considered a violation of forum rules by begging or soliciting, but I had to sacrifice a yearlong, fully paid Pyra to help her out, just as we were finally getting ready for mass production to begin. As much as I hated to make that sacrifice, a Pyra is replaceable, eventually - I just want to do what I can to keep my co-worker's life sane. If anyone is willing to help me, they can Google Payment or PayPal to my account - evolutionrevolution@gmail.com. Leave a little note that you're from here and your username so I can keep track of who I have to pay and how much, as well as thank you.

I know you guys don't really know me, or have a reason to trust me, but I'd appreciate any help I can get at this point. All I can promise you guys is that when this all ends and my checks from work start coming in (in about three weeks), I will pay back whoever sends me anything down to the dollar. It might take me a longer time if you send a lot though, or worse, if we somehow lose this check... but I will make good on that come Hell or high water. My pride doesn't let me fuck people over who help me out when I need it.

I will be fine. My personal finances aren't screwed no matter what. I'm just doing all I can to keep her life from going upside down, and this has dragged on for so long that I'm afraid I can't help her anymore without risking my bills, without external support.

Those two Windows symbols make me sad.

To be honest, me too. However, it would be a boring world if each of us were the same. Notwithstanding, the sentiment of the video is still worth sharing IMHO.

If everyone used Linux, I'm not entirely sure I'd use it either... I'm a bit odd that way.

My cat (14) is dying, that makes me sad :(
He was having some thyroid issues, but had him check-up at the vet so this is still unexpected.

update:
He passed away.

Sorry to hear about that @TeDaDeS . Some people say that they're just pets, but they really become part of the family.

We have two cats, one of which used to be diabetic, and they are also getting old. In a way unexpected is shocking, but at least it's not prolonged, and I'm sure your cat enjoyed a happy life :)

Sorry for your loss @TaDaDeS.
We also learned unexpected bad news about the health of one of our cats recently. In these times, I think the most comforting thing to do is to think that he had a happy life.

I tell myself that mine has a great life but I ache about all the others I find that don't. If anyone is able right now, will you help this very unfortunate dog?
It just happened. Even small things are worthwhile, like asking somewhere else. Thanks everyone. Sorry.

Life with Dahlia.

It's been a funny old week. One dream I had involved me asking my mother why was my grandmother sat with us in the house (in human form), considering that she'd been cremated. Another one involved Dahlia telling me that there was someone who wanted to meet me, she then turned around to reveal that she had a baby in her arms. And the weirdest occurrence, I've started listening to classical music on the radio and have been enjoying doing so.

I missed a blood test today and will have to do it tomorrow instead. Not the biggest problem, but these are the kind of things that hurt when negotiating with the people in charge of my finances about what to spend money on. My bank account is in dire need of a spend-down to keep me on Medicaid, but right now they still want me to get new furniture, because the free furniture I got isn't exactly top quality. I'm starting to lose hope of ever getting a Pyra order in.

Okay, something even more pathetic for the caring corner: I've fallen back into my ED stalking habit. He keeps logging in just to send private messages to other people when he should be entertaining me with posts about a device I still haven't even ordered yet. I can't tell which of us is being more tsundere here.

Some good news: I just had a therapy session I forgot was even scheduled. The therapist was one I knew from about a decade ago. The thing is, he now practices the neuro emotional technique, wherein he uses kung fu to force the anxiety demons out of my body. It's more effective than it sounds. Good experience overall.
