Cyclops I think that you completely misunderstood the aim of the XGP. It will do well in remakes of old classical games like Space Invaders in 3D. Perhaps the commercial support will be something like Gizmondo but at leats XGP will have it. You can not talk about the price until it is confirmed and everyone chooses what he wants (XGP or GPX2) so if you want GPX2 go for it. I understood what fit for purpose is even the first time but in most of the cases better MEANS better for. But I repeat let's wait a few months and then make this comments because now we have only predictions and then we will have facts. See how you have written vocabulary and then you will know why I criticize it
I'm really glad you wrote that again
2: a language user's knowledge of words
my spelling cack, f**k my punctuation is pretty ragged too. you pulled me twice now, and fucked up twice. Jesus. I'd rather be taking about the GPnextgen myself
Any body who uses the word "better" as a description should not criticize anyone. you got something wrong we all do, please do not feel embaressed. You seem more than willing to take account of all my minor mistakes, but please look to your own first.
Will it do remakes of old classic games like space invaders. Think about it. Think about how capable the GP32 is. We all want a bigger and better machine, but has anyone other than a few demo's really pushed the potential on it no. I suspect even a game like 3D space invaders is out of the reach of most people who develop time/effort etc, and I would never say their would be none there is nothing wrong with it for those wanting to step into 3D or play with wireless. I'm just saying its unlikely, and there is not going to lot of it.
Of course I can talk about price, price is a major thing. I earn my money, and don't have enough to buy something just to have it sat in the drawer. Yes there is a lot of speculating over price, thats because Gamepark haven't released one or mockups or very little else. You actually comment on something that I do understand. If I am going to get more use(maybe I should say better) out of something, I would pay more for it. Am I going to use a 3D handheld like the one specced, NO, would I use a 2D one, YES. I would pay more for the 2D becuase I would use it more. If I was ever going to buy a 3D commercial handheld with homebrew scence. I'd already have a PSP in my pocket, and I suspect I'm not the only one. I'm not even sure I'd be given it. Your talking about nothing decided yet. I and I suspect others will make an informed descision based on know information. The PSP is better, more capable, and suitable than it, in every way apart from SD(TV-OUT????), and its not a biggy, and thats the bottom line. Two things are clear from this its being marketed against the PSP, with its laughable eXtreme Gaming, and its not that.
Notice at no time at all have I ever compared it to the GPX2, and I am not the only one who follows this trend, because in my mind their purpose(I should probably say better) is different. What do I think the GPX2 is better for(love the caps), everything that everybody loves currently on the GP32, only more.
My top 5
1) GPX2
2) Second hand 128MB Zarus(assuming Linux is released and its V.Cheap)
3) PSP Homebrew
4) GP32
5) PocketPC
6) XGP
7) Gizmondo
8) DS
I do not but commercial games because I haven't the interest or money. If I did. I suspect the list would be shorter.
If I wait a few months for the components to drop in price(sorry I know you hate that word) for this as yet vaporware machine. PSP Homebrew will be more established(its looking quite healthy now), and may even drop in price. Iriver may start toting a handheld around.
Am I speculating an awful lot, YES, but going on given information, unless the specification changes radically in the next few months, and had a better selling angle, its nothing other than cheaper PSP. Im talking dual core 666Mhz(I know Mhz is nothing) wonder chips at least, A dual core Godson-2. ,Low power X86, or go the other way TV like resolution. Make a deal with Sega slap a dreamcast chip in there, and run dreamcast games, built in digital TV-Card, Free Porn. A teasmade something at least.
Well what about the GPX2. I don't compare it to the PSP. for what it does its Better(see I used your word)than a PSP, and cheaper too. Its modest specs, are a lot better than a GP32 and capable of doing everything the GP32 if fact very little more. Its everything the GP32 tried to be, only now can, at a price(sorry again) that you won't mind upgrading for. Its for every person, who wanted, a little more juice, a little more memory, faster transfers, long file names, little more storage, etc etc.
The reality is PSP is a better XGP, but a GPX2 is a better GP32 from known current specifications
