When Do They Announce Winners?

pip: thats not true.. I love my gp32 and so does my wife.. I'm sorry about what I said but when I saw gmame I was thrilled to bits.. but when I read its docs I was gutted.. it was a knee jerk reaction and I apologise.

My wife is atm playing some of the games I didn't look at and she's loves some of them.. inc Darts, Gamasumo, Jack and Numo.

soo... now i tested them all besides the logical games
vertical: very nice game. nice idea and feels good but fkn hard
darts: hm not my kind of game ;)
gigadrive: whoa nice :) just add some sound :9
gmame: where to put the roms?
gpamp: ha. im only listening to ogg with my gp32 so this is nice cuz yogg is a bit unhandy :p (playlist etc)
gpfinalwar: uhm.. to fast and hard  im getting pwned within 1 min
universal mercenary: to easy and short... but nice
xigon1: hm i dont really like it.. the moving background is irretating me

edit:
gpwar: whops forgot that 1 :p

Gigadrive looks so promising! Is it on auto frameskip, cuz it seems to play coolspot at fs0 :/

Would be nice if someone done a 150mhz and 166mhz version :)

Yes it throttles the speed, in the sense that it just matches the speed of a real Megadrive while trying to show as many frames as it can without skipping.
This means that sometimes with games with very simple graphics it runs at 60fps!

The Gigadriv.fxe is a 156mhz version, my GP32 couldn't do 166mhz sadly - does anyone have a GP32 which can do 166mhz? if so, I'll put a version at 166mhz on my website at some point... (or better yet add a toggle if I get time!)

Does anyone have a GP32 which can't do 156mhz? Just in case, I added a GigaDriv132.fxe to the GBAX competition

Just to clarify, SMD support is in on this version but I didn't have time to do ZIP support yet, so sadly you have to unzip your roms before uploading them - sorry bout that!
By the way, is the GP32 file system all in 8.3 filenames?

Hah! Finally some comment on our game. Thank you, drive through! ;)
I enjoyed it, didn't take long to finish but during that time I had a pleasant time :)

Right... I've now tried everything except GPWar (since its 17 mb, which I don't atm have room for), Zot, the font tester, and GPAmp (no OGG files to plug into it). Oh and GMame, since I have no roms atm.

GPFinalWar: I durvived for roughyl 30 seconds, but in that time, I was darn impressed by how far this engine ahs come. I look forward with great anticipation to the day full AI is done, and its possible to set up campaigns (ideally). Even better would allow gfx changes/sets, but I somehow think that might be a tad hard ;)

Vertical: Lovely game. Really really lovely game. Add some powerups, some scrolling bg objects, a score, and probably a few other tweaks (a shop ;) ), and you could almost certainly sell it. Very nice.

Xigon1: I didn't actually manage to get to any points where changes might have been made, but this is also a great game. There's a few tweaks you could possibly do (more than one money icon at once, perhaps appearing at the same position as the last craft in a string to be destroyed rather than randomly in the middle, maybe a few more enemy ships), but this is up there with the best of GP32 shooters.

Andyman: Its as great as ever... can't say I saw any changes, but tis a darn good game :)

Universal Mercenaries: Another good little entry - short, but with great gfx, and fun gameplay. Any chance of adding a key to accellerate (as though changing gears on the outboard motor) since there were points when I found the river (and the raft) were both moving frustratingly slowly. Darn good though :)

Alien Eraser: Nice start to a game, though I have to say I found it slightly annoying how obvious the repeat in the music was...

Numo: I loved the menu effect, and if I'd bothered to read the readme before trying it, I'd have probably found the game fun as well, but I kinda just got confused lol. It looks wondeful, though.

Card Casino: Nice card game - with the demise of that Solitaire pack, its great to see some card games come out for GP32, especially ones as crisp as this :).

Crazyjack: Very nice lode-runner style game. Doesn't play quite like the original - its a LOT easier, for one - but it does play like a very very good game with some great gfx to boot. I wouldn't mind seeing the same tiles used in a standard platform engine at some stage, either - you could make Jack into a series :D

Darts: This is actually the first time I've played Darts in any release. And its great fun - and very very well presented. Its a pity it can't actually win anything in this compo, but there we go...

Gamasumo: Looks really fun, but I got bored of waiting for the AI to make its move. I'd love to see where this goes in the future :)

KoF91: Nice release of the best 1 on 1 fighter for GP. The background somehow makes the loading seem so much better, and its great to see random background selection in there.

Gigadrive: My personal favourite (and I'm sure many others) - lots of stuff doesn't work on it, but lots of other stuff does. Try Sonic 2, or Vectorman, both play brilliantly, as I'm sure to many many others. Its quite astounding just how good the Genesis games look on the GP. Once this has got sound, save, and a couple of bug-fixes (missing registers?) I'll never need another Gen emu, I think.

Gpsweep: Before this there was GPMine 0.1a (from the days of yore well over a year and a half ago). Now there's a minesweeper game that plays well and looks nice to boot - and has saves scores. Brilliant :D. Any chance of a custom mode, btw?

I think that's it, apart from Asciiart, which since I entered, I'm not going to say anything about lol. Brilliant competition; so many good bits and pieces

Incidentally - can I suggest this topic gets pinned as the fastest growing topic on the board. In a day, its managed to get a long way towards catching up with the longest (that being 39 pages and the GBA emu one - not counting the SPAM thread, since its full of, well, spam). Which in my book is very impressive lol.

Nah, its the english one that's 17MB on disk (though 5mb of files). With all 3 languages, it takes up a whopping 53MB of space on my HDD lol, regardless of how big the files are... must be a lot of small files in it, I assumed...

hmmm, ok well:

I downloaded everythig, though I've only had time to VERY quickly test gMAME and gigadrive(as these were the ones that I was most excited about).

The games I got to work on gigadrive ran verywell, thanks to the 156 version (mine can't manage 166 either), although a lot of my games didn't work, probably due to them being zipped. good speed, now just needs sound!
Thanks for all the hard work Fdave!!! :D

As for gMAME, it's really good to have a WIP but I couldn't get the one game I tried to work, it kept crashing. I'm really looking forward to another release of this, thumbs up for working so hard Mirko! :)

as for everything else, I haven't tried em yet. Though obvioulsy I already had a version of KOF91 (btw, what are the improvements in this version?)

Gigadrive kicks ass! Alien Soldier! yay! Forget about sound- savestates is where its at imo. Without them, many games are rendered a little useless (playing the first ten minutes of sonic will be fun for about a week). I'm really happy with the progress; fdave, your the man!
