if we were to go back to a system of 10% going to university then there wouldn't be such a lack of money. this country is slowly being crippled by its lack of skilled work force, we need less people going to get degrees and more people of practical, skills based training schemes.
that way it will be the same priveleged families going to University because their parents did and can therefore afford the best education, meaning the best grades, meaning University. Private education should be scrapped.

University is a great experience and should be enjoyed by the many, not the few.
People going to Uni can always go back into skilled manual work afterwards anyway. I know someone who did a degree, enjoyed the experience and is now very happy being a postman.

Education should be for the sake of furthering people, not just getting them ready for the labour market.

I hate to alarm you, but secondary industry is dead in britain. Britain is moving to Tertiary and Quintertiary industries. Also, I don't see much crippling happening, what with the skilled work force being laid off because there's no demand for them, and higher demand for university-trained occupations such as dentists...

i'm not approaching the election from an economic stand point, but a personal and social one.

everyone single one of the main parts of the tory manifesto are issues that i strongly believe in.

i will not be voting lib dem as you may as well not bother, our voting system just does not allow them to gain the power they could.

i resent the fact that a statement of previous New Labour manifestos was a guaruntee against increased fees at unis, now look where we are. the notion of getting 50% of people through higher education is a ridiculous one.

Where's the 'I won't be voting button'?
I've Never voted and never will, I really couldn't give a fuck to be honest, there's no such thing as a selfless good deed, and I doubt there's any exception when it comes to politics, each party just has different ways of channelling tax payers money into there own pocket and concealing it somehow.

Right, thats a nice bit of sensationalist logic there. Be that as it may, you still need to decide under what circumstances these people will be getting your concealed money.

Well yeah, I am mouthing off in a manner not required...to be honest I don't really know enough to form a 100% valid opinion, but you can't deny that money has a large amount to do with it. I basically see voting as a means to choosing my employer. Taxes will stay no matter who gains power, and it's use is never truly revealed to the british public...don't even get me started on immigrants and the money spent on them, a friends experience whilst working for a taxi firm was enough to make me stop giving a shit about most political promises.

Um...the budget... with the red briefcase and everything...

don't even get me started on immigrants and the money spent on them
Ah, a daily mail reader. No wonder you're so ill informed.
But seriously, we pay money to shelter refugees. Illegal immigrants we send back, and economic migrants who get in legally earn their own money, usually because they're already quite wealthy.

Immigrants; ace. (my grandad himself isnt from this country).

The way I see it the world is just land and people should be free to live anywhere... however I know this is impracticle - thus the way things are set up at the moment. BUT saying immigrants "take our money, our women, our jobs" is bullshit, Im on Job Seekers allowance - Im getting my money and if you want a job you show that you are bloody well better than them, not take a racist standpoint.

In conclusion; the rightwing annoy me and belong in the past.

On a much lighter note...

I am a simple man when it comes to elections. No WMDs = no vote for Labour.
Course, that's only no WMDs if you don't count John Prescott :p

But yeah, I generally agree with you, except that i fear the conservatives more than I fear a third Labour term, so I'll have to see what general opinion is in my area before abandoning the Labour party.

I'm 18 in june, so i wont be voting this year

unfornately i live in a middle class area, therefore the tories will be triumphant due to all the selfish biggots in my area (my MP Francis Maude is a biggot)

I think the voting system is fucked, but it is hard to have a good voting system other voting systems can leave the constituants feel alientated from their MP

if i was old enough to id vote for which ever one would come and close down my shit pile of a school. I might write to mr bliar about this. Good publicity and all. Reading letters from kids and closing down the schools where they get beaten daily and given brain damage.

Daily Mail spin.

The truth?
According to a recent Home Office study, migrants,
including asylum seekers and refugees contribute
10 per cent more to the economy in taxes and
national insurance than they consume in benefits
and public services – making a net fiscal
contribution of approximately 2.5 billion (1999-
2000), worth 1p on income tax.

Lib Dems for me. They are getting a positive media image, and I assume for it that they will gain more seats.

I'm personally stuck in an ideological middleground that no partys seem to cover, and while I know that in a democracy sacrafises must be made, it's very difficult to choose.

Personally, I can't stand the Tories. It's not because of Thatcher, as I know she created as much tension within the party as within Britian, but immigration? Aslyum? Travellers? Nothing here matters. It's all talk.

Ironic that I'm essentially voting for them. Damn FPTP; when will we get that AV+ we spent hundreds of thousands of pounds on...

Well EVERYONE I know who voted labour last time is voting for the Lib Dems this time so they should do much better.

A strongly worded letter is whats needed here.
