Ahhh at cheating in SOTB.. was there ever a nobler art?

Allan.

Yeah. For those who do not know how to cheat in Beast II in a decent way.

You have to do what follows to activate the cheat mode: go right until you meat the first fighter in the forest. He will tell you "Do not enter these woods". And then comes the fun part, you have to answer: "Ten Pints" and you will get the reply "This one is for you Roger. Cheat mode activated."

This is a noble way of cheating indeed.

I had a quick try of this, and it looks like I forgot at least a couple of things when doing the virtual keyboard handling. The directions still take effect at the moment when you're entering keys, so you end up inching into the fighter in the forest - oops.

It also makes it a bit of a challenge to enter your name in Bar Games (although it's possible if you're cunning).

Sorry, I'll fix this ASAP (expect a minor rev later on today).

I think, you do not have to say sorry for your great emu.

Minor rev has now occurred (0.3.1):

I had a game of Bar Games and it was much easier to enter my name. I haven't tried entering the cheat in SOTB2, but hopefully that'll be a goer as well now.

Keep the updates coming, I am sure we are all *very* interested in every little update you make :D
Well, I just played Datastorm for the first time in years, so I'm feeling quite pleased at the moment (it needed F1 to start). It's just the best Defender game ever, IMHO, although two-player mode was what made it ultra-special.

There's a lot to do, and I spent too long getting bogged down learning SDL stuff, and indeed the uae4all codebase. I feel a bit more at home with it all now, and setting up gfoot's usb->serial output tool on Sunday has helped me debug lots of stuff, so hopefully progress will be better now. Obviously most of the stuff I've done so far is the "low-hanging fruit"... if I can't get cyclone working, I don't think we'll get sound (things were exceedingly choppy when I tried it once), for instance.

Cyclone would definitely give it a boost and I keep my fingers crossed :)

There are probably no arm asm cores for any of the custom chips (Agnus, Denise and Paula), right?

Great work! Thanks.

How about getting the batterry light light to flicker with disk activity? its difficult to know if somes games are loading or have crashed and its not always ideal to have beltbar turned on all the time.

Just an idea :)

Ever played Anarchy from Psygnosis? I bet you'd like that too!

Thanks for the update ... Bar Games is groovy. There is something unreal about the wet tshirt contest that won't let you stop until dem bitches is soaked :)

@hercule18: make sure the emulator is in a folder called uae4all in the root dir of your sd card and the data folder is in this folder also.

As i don't have anymore power i can't test now  , but i'm definitevely sure that the folder is not uae4all so it seems you found where is my problem.

thanks

Yeah, hey critical perhaps distributing the emulator in a folder called uae4all wouldn't be such a bad idea.

I'm hoping to sort it out properly at lunchtime, but yes, putting things in the right folder in the distribution wouldn't have done any harm - can't expect people to actually read the instructions all the time, can you?

Actually there is no mention about having to place the folder in the root of the SD ;)
Oops - didn't add it to the README_GP2X.txt file. Apologies.

No apology needed, I am just explaining why some people (me included) needed some time to figure where to placethe emu now, even after reading the note on your webpage and the readme :)

Would it be possible to add an option to map keys for every game? Playing keyboard requiring games like Pinball Dreams is pretty much impossible now.

Great work by the way, I never thought i'd get to play my old Amiga favourites on my GP2X. I've always been a big Amiga fan, I was still using my A1200 in the late nineties to surf the net until it died :/.

Also, has anyone gotten Worms, Defender Of The Crown, Nuclear War or Sim City to work? I just get a blank screen using my rips.

Funnily enough, that's what I spent this lunchtime doing.

I've changed the Start button to cycle through three states:

Normal joystick
Mouse emulation
Remapped buttons (if file provided)

The remapped buttons will be defined in a file that's the same name as the adf, but with .map appended or something similar. The format will be something like:

L 0x66 // lamiga
R 0x67 // ramiga
A 0x50 // f1
B 0x4d // down arrow
X 0x40 // space

I'll provide a table of mapping codes on release.

I've been testing with Pinball Dreams, as it actually seems to run quite smoothly with frameskip 2.

I've written the remapping code, but haven't done the mapping file handling part yet.

I think it's safe to say that this chunk of work will get finished this week. Unexpectedly, I've got Saturday free to code for a change, which will help :)

PS, if you're getting hangs, have you tried setting throttle to 0?

w.r.t. Worms, looking at the wiki:
http://wiki.gp2x.org/wiki/UAE4all

someone seems to have got to the point where they need to use the keyboard, at least.
