Uae4all Amiga Emulator Port To Gp2x

DaveC: yes, it can and will go faster. I'm not settling for it how it is, and saying "job done", but neither am I avoiding playing some of the games I used to love playing (albeit overclocked, and not perfect) now. That's just the fun-loving kind of guy I am.

Woo! Go critical!

I've really nothing else to say, just cheering you on.

nice one critical... :D i´m enjoying to see the progress of this great emu

btw: would it be hard to implement an FPS-counter (in the status bar for example) to see how fast the games are actually running..?

greetings

I have tried several games with the version 0.5.0 and there is really a great progress in the musical section - many games have perfect music, which gets interrupted only when accessing the disk or when there is too much happening on the screen.

On the other hand, the LED control that you use for signalling floppy access started to be buggy in 0.5.0, sometimes it works, sometime not, mostly it works when the status ln is on. But this is just a minor problem. As is the menu music, I mentioned it just because I liked the mod.

Yeah, I noticed that yesterday... it was a stupid quick change I made when merging to support both the drives. I'll fix it today sometime, probably, as I've got used to seeing the reassuring flashing light now. I tend to put the status line on when I'm testing new games, but otherwise I leave it off.

B4N5H33: I had an FPS counter running a while ago on a local build... I'll try to add it back for the next minor release, but my main focus is integration of Cyclone now...

Would love to know if anyone has tried Overdrive (Team 17 dop down racer). Awsome game. (Don't have a GP2x yet - this would push me over the edge!)

I hadn't tried it before, but I just gave it a go...

Yep, plays well overclocked to 250MHz with sound on (frameskip 2).

I've been working on integrating an asm core this evening which should hopefully reduce the need to overclock.

I always preferred Micro Machines myself, but to each their own :)

I feel the need to make another donation, this is exciting news indeed. :)

I'm afraid I've yet to try this, but the moment the next release comes out, I think I'll have to investigate some good ole Amiga shareware from somewhere...

Yeah I haven't tried it because of the speed and need for smokin OC requirement to play with sound. My batteries are not the best and I would get like 12 minutes of run time.

It has gotten pretty far though. If the cyclone thing is added it could be within reach.

Does this emu emulate all of the custom chips? Do the scene demos run very well?

Much appreciated - I'm off to purchase a GP2X!!

Maybe the topic of this thread should be changed, what it claims has been far from the truth for a long time ;)
It *does* play Turrican, honest :)

I just fired it up. It's quite slow at the moment, but it does work. ISTR that I never liked the control mechanism before, and my brief play of it just now confirmed that. I used to play it two player, but playing it again now on my own, it doesn't have the same charm as Micro Machines for me.

EDIT: while attempting to get my headphones to work, I obviously managed to push the headphone socket into the main case, so there's now rattling metal free to wreak havoc inside it. I think I'll try to remove it tonight... I don't really want to be without my GP2X at the moment. I could even have a bash at soldering it back... some kind soul has provided pictures and so on. Not the most awesome build quality ever, but then I already knew that :)

Eh, bad to hear so, I was pretty afraid of that when pluggin the headphones in for the first time. But mine seems to be sturdy enough.
Hope you manage to solder it in place, although I prefer UAE4ALL to show its sound off aloud ;)

i've done other testing with other games, they runs fine, but when i go to wikipedia to post it,i have some problems.well,i go to the section where you put the game's info, name, position of the slide in emu bias etc.the i press "ok" or somethind and thei nfo will be trasported down in hTML format...well...now ehrm..what's next??there's nothing like "proceed" or other.i've tried everything and i was put back on the main menu again

The newest version 0.5.1 seems to run the sound with less stuttering, however it is dramatically down in pitch, anyone else noticed that? Also the overall framerate seems to have gone down quite a bit. 0.4.5 is the one that works best for me, with disabling the sound that is tho ...

Great work nonetheless critical, I'm amazed how fast paced you are working on this emulator. When I ordered my GP2X there was no amiga emulator for it in existence, by the time I received my unit you were already releasing the 3rd version or so ... awesome!! :D
