There Will Be 2 Consoles Xgp And Gpx2

I *wish* I was able to explain more about this situation.

I really really do.

DaveC - You will be happy with the system :)

The people running the Gamepark website are the people who are making the new system which *exists* and these are the people who made the original GP32... there is so much more going on which I can't speak about, but soon ;)

Just don't let these rumours ruin it, believe nothing :)

No that is wrong.  The new screen is 272 pixels high VS 240.  Also I have both a PSP and A GP32 so I can compare both.  This new screen is exact dimensions/resolution  of the PSP.  The PSP screen is actually slightly smaller in the vertical direction, but wider.  Plus the pixels are smaller.  So when you display a emu on it like MD for example it *is* quite a bit smaller.  If you scale it to fill it looks horrible.  This new screen dimension it shit for emulation, good for movies.  It sounds like they are going for some hoaky media player for this thing (like there aren't enough portable movie players out there  ).
There are 2 different successors to the GP32 being made, one has the PSP-style screen and the other likely has the old-style GP32 screen (that's the one that craigix is involved with). Haven't I said this already? <_<
That is (I think - I haven't checked) oficially the fourth time you said that.
And thats without taking into consideration all of the other clues in the topic.

The only thing that's interesting about this is the TV-out, otherwise (exspecially the screen) it sounds like a bad idea. But luckily Craigix restored some hope ;)

Just a thought, maybe Project Ninja and that other (not described) GP are actually some sort of colaboration project (since in the Ninja thread someone said someting about a big supporter)?

So finally which is the spin-off company the one making the XGP or the one making the console which Craig knows everything about.

Craig says that news about XGP is a rumor

but he's wrong...

Gamepark holdings, which owns the current gamepark website is going to make a console named GPX2 and this company is the one that made original GP32

Gamepark is going to make XGP

as you know specs for XGP...
it's most likely a portable DMB player so you can watch DMB TV programs in anywhere in Korea
but it's too similar to PSP

so the news about XGP is not a rumor

GPX2 is going to be less than $ 200 and it's got MP3 player and movie player. Gamepark will use SD card instead of SMC this time.

PS: Name of Gamepark Holdings was actually Gamepark. The company changed its name to Gamepark Holdings and a spin-off company called 'Gamepark' came out from Gamepark Holdings.

PSP screen is not 4"

Yeah, you are right the PSP screen is bigger. So this thing will really have a tiny image when playing games 1:1. Man that will suck.

I will go for "Craig's" GP32II. Who needs a PSP wannabe when you can just get a PSP, now?

I just hope that Devs will support the GP32 MkII rather than this thing. You know who has MY money.

Me too.

Perhaps we need a GP32 II Fact Thread, where we put what we (at least think) we know.

Essentially, to me that boils down to "There's a new handheld coming out and most of us don't have a fucking clue about it."

Fact? Thjeres no fact until release date and someone cracks 'em open :)

The weird thing is.. why did GP separate into two companies? One was irrelevent enough, not divided into two? Like a rock band where the singer gets too full of himself and has to bail..

How many people will buy _both_? Not many, so the market is thus reduced :/

Worse than that.

It's more like "We think there might be two new handhelds coming out by two different companies which used to be part of one company and they both have the same name and one has allegedly released vague details of a handheld that it might be developing. Maybe."

It's not that hard to understand..

polooo2, thank you very much for clearing everything up.

So that's the XGP (the specs polooo2 has posted), which will obviously be the company that retains the Gamepark name. I suppose we have no confirmation or denial of BC or openness on that one.

The other console (BumHong Lee's? :p ) is the one that Craig and ED have been telling us about, which will be a more conservative, original GP-like console. And they'll be getting a new company name, which I find really exciting for some reason. :D

Everything's making sense again!!

wow, i just came back to this site a few days ago, and a lot has gone on. I never would've expected a new system from Gamepark/Gamepark holdings, whatever they're calling themselves now.

I am really confused on this, but I hope that whatever gets developed, the company behind it learns from the mistakes of the GP32. In this day an age to really make a system successful you will need commercial support. They are already going to have the support of the GP32 scene, but that alone shouldn't be good enough for them, and they should want to expand. Granted, in this day and age it is going to be REALLY hard for a relatively no name company to bring out a system to try to compete with DS and PSP. But still, i hope they have a little bit better commercial backing than the GP32.

commercial backing is immaterial. the system that craig is going to sell is going to be the one we will all buy for homebrew, emus, etc. and the xgp is only going to appeal to those living inside of korea, with it's specialist korean tv support.

So nothing to worry about, Craig is VERY well informed and is one of, if not gameparks best western customer, so i'm sure he knows exactly what he is talking about.

But then to have a good commercial support is to turn their backs on open-source homebrew.

Commercial sucess and hombrew sucess come at a cost of one another. They can't be having both of them at the same time.

3rd party companies are quick to drop their support when they realize hombrew market is eating up their revenues. They'll either want GamePark to start on a rabbit hunt, or they'll just want no more to do with the console.

the handheld backed by craig will as we know be totally opensource and will probably have no commercial backing and will be all the better for it! The gp32 has sold over 150,000 units (what i know of) which is not exactly small fry for a system with no 'official' software support.

Competent emulators of amiga, mame, snes, megadrive, neo geo et al will ensure that this new real successor will be a huge hit in the underground handheld market.
