Well, those specs are suitably impressive but let's hope Gamepark Holdings are able to come up with something similar minus all the expensive stuff we don't need (widescreen display, 3D acceleration, wireless LAN & TV-out).

And AFAIK nobody has ever mentioned that this Gamepark console will NOT support homebrew. Craig said the Holdings console will definitely support homebrew apps, but only speculated that the Gamepark console could be developed by the people within the old Gamepark who didn't want to support homebrew. Until someone can clear up the situation, it's best not to assume anything.

aw come on... it a new topic now and i am thankful that he cleared the specs up :)

sounds interesting... i hope this system will be open too :)

But a TFT-LCD and 480 X 272 widescreen is *SHIT* for emulation. Scaling sucks and looks shit all stretched out. I know because that is the same as the PSP and emus are either displayed real small or all stretched and distorted. BAH the current model is better for emulation. If it is true they really fucked up there

480x272 would be weird .. 480x300 looks *great* after scaling, since thats usually 1.5 times and with AA it looks sweet. 272 seems a little odd.. that'd cause some clipping, or scrunching. Probably look 'decent', but not as good as 480x300..

<_<

Think of it, The GP32 was suposed to have cool Commercial games but it doesnt (Well maybe 1 or 2) IF this XGP cant play Homebrew then I dont see the need in owning one when I can have a PSP and my GP32 :)

I highly doubt Gamepark is competent enough to keep their new system from getting cracked wide open, let alone throw mandatory firmware updates at us if (when?) it is.

I have seen it at 480 x 320 and I don't like it. That is an odd resolution and *NO* game system has ever had that resolution. Game systems were either close to 320 x220 or 640 x 480 for stuff like Dreamcast (Dreamcast isn't going to be emulated anyway though). AA makes it blurry around the edges and distorted looking. since you are doubling like every 10 pixels or so it is uneven. Displaying at 1:1 native res always looks sharper and is far more accurate. I hate that anti-aliased blurr it looks shitty and out of focus. And there is NO reason for it. When the highest resolution of the highest end system that could be emulated(NeoGeo) is only 320 x 220 going higher has absolutely NO benefit and is actually a detractor. Why scale it up, then filter it making it look overcooked when it is not needed? It doesn't make any sense? What would be the point other than doing it just so you can put a bigger number on the box?

I think that the first pictures of the handheld + info about the design and the CPU would be released in August. Because the following sentence is contained in the messed up translation: The design off-line poll will be advanced well! as does probably in August.

I should add that this at least isn't the new GP since the dev boards were made...

Infact no, so much is different in that description that it isn't the new GP32, unless its the one from that gamepark spin-off company which I know nothing about.
