The Communication Cube

This is the symbol for Mars: ♂︎ Mars. It has about 25-degree tilt and rotates counter clockwise, so that arrow is the vector.
This here is the symbol for Venus: ♀︎. It has a 177 degree tilt, so the vector points down. As it rotates so slowly, the vector does not have an arrow point. Instead, it is striked through, as in, it does not rotate (much)

Not being able to call emergency services - what could possibly go wrong?
I may be mistaken, but I always thought it was possible to run the emergency number without even having a sim inserted. That suggests that if it can't find it's tethered network, it'll check what else is out there. So you only need to leave one 2G cell tower powered up to handle all emergency calls.

The following video reminds me of when I was at college. Though we didn't have access to quite such advanced technology at the turn of the millennium.

That works for mars and venus, but not for earth, whose symbol is and doesn't have any external things at an angle at all. It kind of holds for mercury too (☿) if you take it that two appendages means it doesn't rotate at all (except about the sun, it's phase locked). But if certainly can't explain Jupiter's symbol (♃), nor Uranus's symbol (⛢ or♅) and Neptune has Poseidon's trident as it's symbol (♆) so all bets are off.

Edit: I'm not sure why the earths logo never shows in this post. It's basically a circle containing a regular cross, so it looks kind of like the classic elite planet.

I'm interested in sodium-ion batteries for home storage needs. Slightly heavier than lithum-ion because sodium has all those extra protons and neutrons in it, but it's the next group-1 metal so it behaves similarly to lithium, but is less flammable. Sodium is also more available than lithuim because it's common in seawater, so there's less of a scarcity. I tend to think that price has more to do with the number of people that want to buy it, and hence I'd expect it to start out more expensive even if later it comes down in price.
Would you like some seaweed with your sodium-ions ? Apparently they make good sources for battery membranes.

I assume that's a reply to my last post further up the page. Yes, I did propse turning everything off, but I can live with just one 2G antenna powered up and everything else off, including all of most networks, assuming it turns out you only need one.

OPEC decided to cut oil production just in time for the US midterm elections. Those jerks. Did they forget that oil was $20 a barrel under Trump? Good luck surviving on that again.

Oh yeah, happy Columbus Day from America. The guy was not the first person to discover America, but no one wants to give up their extra day off work. A few states have started calling it Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Maybe we can nationalize that soon.

Hey guys, remember that US railroad workers’ strike that was averted? Well, it may be back for round two. The third largest rail union just rejected the deal that was made. Fortunately, they say they won’t strike until after the midterm elections, so they can give Congress time for more negotiations when it reconvenes in November.
