Hey guys, remember that US railroad workers’ strike that was averted? Well, it may be back for round two. The third largest rail union just rejected the deal that was made. Fortunately, they say they won’t strike until after the midterm elections, so they can give Congress time for more negotiations when it reconvenes in November.

Sounds weird delaying a strike until after elections. What's the date of those elections ?

Btw. Thay say they discovered a new ceramic that could help build heatsinks for cellphones... Maybe it can be useful someday for the Pyra, if they manage to put it to market in 2 Months.

Tuesday November 8th. The entire House of Representatives is up for election, as well as 35 Senate seats. With the Senate currently fifty-fifty, it’s on a knife’s edge, but FiveThirtyEight thinks the Democrats have a two-thirds chance of retaining control of it.

Really, what’s surprising is how little uncertainty there is in the Senate. FiveThirtyEight forecasts only one seat as likely to switch parties, the one in Pennsylvania. I guess that’s why their current projection has the Democrats with fifty-one seats in the Senate, compared to forty-nine for the Republicans. Oh well, that’s all you need.

Mmm... I'm no expert but I think when I looked at the USA electoral system once it looked like it was designed for that. Only 2 parties in practice and all set up to keep them roughly balanced and alternating in power,
so the real bosses don't have to make friends with so many politicians and politicians have clearer career paths. Doesn't mean it must always be stable, something could happen once in a while that alters it,
or voters could start thinking despite all, or anything, but the steady state is little change.

That's all you need if the forecast is right. But you'd need more to be more sure that the result is like the forecast.

I get my flu shot tomorrow. Flu activity is low in North Carolina, but adjacent Georgia has the highest flu activity of any state right now, which means it’s only a matter of time before it creeps from west to east across NC.

FiveThirtyEight analyzed the chances of Democrats being able not only to keep both houses of Congress, but also gain two seats in the Senate so that they can suspend the filibuster to pass more legislation, a tactic opposed by Democratic Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema. Currently, the odds are 22.5%. A good sporting chance, but not quite something you’d bet on.

Early voting begins up to 45 days before the election in some states, but doesn’t begin in my county until the 20th. I plan to go first day. I have a feeling COVID may be on the rise again by Election Day. A cold front is supposed to bring lows in the 30s to North Carolina next week. It’ll be even worse up north.

Remember last election when we didn’t know the fate of the Senate until January due to runoffs in Georgia? Well, polling indicates the same thing could happen this year, but fortunately the runoff would be earlier this time, in early December.

I’m kinda jealous of my older sister. She lives in congressional district NC-13, one of the few spots in the country with a competitive House race. Here in NC-14, my vote doesn’t do anything to influence the makeup of the House. I mean, I do like that the Democrat is guaranteed to win my district, but I’d rather help the Dems win a close race than a lock. At least there’s still NC’s Senate race to keep an eye on.

Just saw on the local news just now, even though it happened three days ago, that the FDA has declared a nationwide Adderall shortage in the US.

That sound you heard three days ago was every programmer in the US shouting “NOOOOOOOOOO”, Vader-style.

Had to listen to CBS News this morning while waiting downstairs for my medicine. There’s a new twist in the Iranian protests. An Iranian athlete decided to compete in a climbing event in South Korea without her hijab on, and she’s been missing since. Presumably Iranian officials have detained her.

What I heard today in the radio was that the athlete was now saying her hijab fell by accident, and the Iranian governemnt says they didn't arrest her. She was reported returning to Iran. Sounds like backpedalling with exaggerated marketing at damage control. I just hope she's well and stays well. Well, I hope a little more...
EDIT: They just added that sources near the athelete doubt her statement that it was an accident and believe she is being brought to Iran under arrest.

First freeze of the season is supposed to happen in my county tonight. Already 39 degrees as of midnight according to my thermostat. Finally had to switch the heat on.

I’ve been so bored with insomnia lately that I actually started using my Twitter account. I’m not really doing it right though. 0 followers, 0 following. I need to start following some people and actually retweet and like tweets before I can expect any followers. I’m thinking maybe I should intentionally try to get posted on r/WhitePeopleTwitter in order to give my account a quick start. There’s no such thing as bad publicity, right?

I brought my tablet downstairs to entertain me while I do laundry. My dad says he might not visit me today due to car trouble. That means I would be stuck with $75 I don’t know what to do with. Maybe gambling?

Maybe putting them aside? Just a crazy thought. I don't understand people, that treat money as if it had some adverse effects on them which could build up over time.
Maybe best, if you don't accept money in the first place. Fewer decisions to make.

I voted early today. Had to walk to the library, one and a half miles there and another one and a half miles back. Exit polling of me by me shows that Democrat Cheri Beasley currently leads Republican Ted Budd by one vote in the North Carolina US Senate race.

I just tests some Hacks yesterday from the NES Pack on the Steamdeck, there where some funny stuff (like Nude Mario ^^) , but also some Nazi Stuff, i wonder why someone put this stuff in a NES Rom Pack, is it whit purpose, or just "i grap anything from the Internet and put it in to let my Pack look bigger.. ..

And im still not that happy whit my Pocket Knive Combinations: I want one SAK Like Knive but my Cybertool is too big and lacks the Lockable Blade, whyle the Wenger /Victorinox Delemont have the Lockable Blade but lacks some other Tools.. and wearing 2 Knives ditnt make much sense.. , and Leatherman got the Issue that it might be Illeagal to carry in Germany because of the One Hand Opening Blade..

So if someone got some Alternative Sugesstion, it would be welcome..

I also thought of Swizza they make Swiss army Knives whit Lockable Blades, but they dont have that much tools yet..
