Squidgesnes With Squidge Mmu Hack

The MMU hack only works properly on 2.0 plus firmware, so it would be wise to upgrade, yes. Should fix things :)

Okay, I`m on 2.0 now, but it still crashes my gp2x :(
I can see that it goes to a black screen, displaying some text, and then immediately returns to the menu...

Hey guys. I dont know if you all already know or not, but snes9x Core was updated some days ago. ( http://www.ipherswipsite.com/ )
Interesting stuff, but I guess there are more important things to address first, such as integration of the spc700 asm core that notaz wrote. Last time I looked, that appeared to be a WIP.

have you installed the full squidesnes "package"? or just the single .gpe?

I have had DK and pretty much every game run at as far as I can tell full speed... (FS 0) but somehow now it wont work anymore... I always had some corruption at the (rareware or whatever it was) intro screen... and castlevania's layers were messed up... but now everything is running almost as slow as it always has been.. anyone might have any idea's about whats causing it? (I actually had to use frame rate limiter to keep it running the way it should.. otherwise it was just too fast)

I must admit that today was the first time I tried SquidgeSNES. The difference with this hack is incredible... I assumed people were still grousing about speed because it was god-awful slow, but it's great!

Yesterday I'd actually idly minorly-ported to GP2X, compiled and ran chui's snes4all to see if that did any better, but having gone through that effort I discovered that whilst snes4all runs faster than SquidgeSNES for some games (DKC and MarioKart, for example), SquidgeSNES is mostly just speedier. I looked at moving snes4all to using hardware surfaces for SDL, and then applying the hack to that, but I just got a lot of flickering. Anyway...

Great work as ever Squidge, Reesy and Pepone :)

BTW, have you played around with cyclespercentage at all? It might be useful to have that configurable, since I can't often spot the gameplay difference at 80-85 for most games, and it can give you some more time to do other stuff. I recompiled squidgesnes with cyclespercentage at 75 to see what difference it might make, but couldn't really notice one, although I haven't played with the frame limiting and vsync options much yet, and don't really know what the changes that have been made to squidgesnes over other snes9x-alikes are.

i've got a question but don't kill me if this has been asked before...

i absolutely hate auto-frameskip. so can i swithc it off in the current release somehow or will it be off-switchable in the future?

i like playing at fs 1 all the time

Only if you are using version 0.37c

Here is a version with mmu hack who let you choose between autoframeskip and classic frameskip.
I didn't test it very much, so it may be buggy :)

Ps: turning Autoframeskip on disable vsync, fpslimiter and classic frameskip as it's incompatible and/or redondant.

hmm..I just downloaded this and I really don't notice a speed change at all from the previous version. I've been fiddling with both versions and I don't see a speed increase. I have firmware 2.0 and the right gpe too. Anyone else have this problem? I tried the squidge injected version of drmdx and I notice the speed increase in that program and also in gngeo. Weird
