So Who Got Their Psp's Already? (us Ones I Mean)

Depends on if it's really one or two lines, and also if the person doing the encodeing is anal about his picture quality/aspect ratio.

Watot - A lot of people are using DVDdecrypter to rip their DVDs then using any number of a half dozen differnt programs to rip down to PSP size. Check pspforums.com I'm sure they have a tutorial.

yep, good old decrypter for ripping, and i use pspvideo9 for conversion. it's ok..
i hope we'll be able to play true AVC movies at 480x272 off the mem stick soon ;)

btw, the spiderman aspect ratio thing..wasn't the movie's original aspect ratio not 16:9, but the ultra wide screen(i forgot it's ratio!).

in any case, check out the movie trailers from the sampler disc! most of those are in format wider than 16:9, which the original spiderman movie was done in! y'know?

edit:
someone was able to use an original memory stick via an adapter and improvising! he hinted at being able to use CF memory cards via a memory stick-CF adapter. imagine using those micro drives(that are really chip for their storage) for your psp!

those 3rd party hong kong companies better get to work! ;)

A long time ago i posted a thread regarding the PSP screen possibly not being true 16:9 format, well... and this is probably pretty stupid to post, but a bit more evidence that this is really the case...

When you start up the Spiderman 2 movie included with the Value Pack, it says "This move has been modified from it's original version. It has been formatted to fit this screen." In every case it's ever been used, this sentence applies to changing the screen ration of the original (16:9) to fit... well usually, a 4:3 TV screen. So in this case it must mean that they had to edit/crop the picture at least a little bit to fit the screen... hence, the PSP screen must not be true 16:9... which is probably why I had such a hard time getting movies (DVD rips, true 16:9) to show up when run from the memory stick w/o them appearing slightly squished vertically.

Actually spiderman 2 wasn't 16:9 it was the longer screen format one not sure what it was called. It was reported on IGN

ah okay see I didn't know that about spiderman... well this REALLY sux so now just as 16:9 TV is coming into it's own now there is a new even WIDER screen format? F'ing retarded......

btw... oddly, not EVERY video I"ve encoded for play on the PSP has been vertically squished... all my movies have, but I've recenly been putting some anime eps on there, and for instance, Macross Zero, the vids I have actually are in widescreen format (dont know if they are 16:9 or what) and when I put them on the PSP they show up perfectly taking the whole screen... no squishing.

I like my PSP but there is one thing that is annoying. That is dark colors kind of smear and lag on the display, kind of like the LCD has a very slow reaction time. I see these trails on games like I did on the original Gameboy. I hope they can fix this in future versions as it is very distracting in some games.

well i don't have any games yet, hoping they'll arrive soon.

it truly is an awesome piece of equipment, perfect size, amazing screen, can't wait to use it properly.

i've discovered one dead pixel, it is definitely a dead as opposed to burnt pixel as it can't be seen when the screen is black, it honestly makes no difference at all, for the first half hour of use i didn't see it.

I only saw the first ep of Macross Zero... I really need to see the rest...

yep I've been saying for months now that the dark games like MGA REALLY suffer from the ghosting.... funny back then everyone basically told me I was being too picky or I was nuts....

actually I've been reading a few people's reports saying some screens handled darkscenes better than others (this is after pouring though several systems over a few days trying to get one without dead pixels), so you aren't crazy but some people might just have screens that ghost less.

For anyone who was waiting, the game Mercury has been delayed, and has recieved yet more negative previews... and the planned USB motion sensor accesory for it? It's been delayed even further and actually about a 50/50 chance it will be canned altogether... at any rate, it will NOT be releasing when the game launches in the US.

I got Tony Hawks and Twisted Metal delivered TODAY.

Both of them are xtremely sweet.

I love them both.

The online play in Twisted Metal is excellent.

Who's got it and wants a game?

Sorry if you all know about this website, but

http://www.jiwire.com/

It's kinda great! Even the tiny village in UK where I grew up has 8 hotspots! When us PSPers are on the road, it'll be good to know where we can go for a bit of online gaming! Well, I think so!

But sorry if everyone knew this already!

PS. It's coming! But when it does come, will I still want to finish Phantasy Star 4?

PPS. The psp, i mean!

do any psp games have actual internet play yet?

That's what I'm talking about. Actual Internet play on Twisted Metal.

No tunnelling. It can be played anywhere there's access.
