Is there a PS2 emulator that runs on the Pyra devboard ? If so, could someone try Persona 3 ?

It is not a very demanding game to emulate compared to most other PS2 games. As it is a turn based RPG, it can support some input lag and frameskipping as well.

I don't even know if a PS2 emulator is available on ARM linux.
If it's not possible, I'll start playing this on my PS3, but I'd rather keep it for the Pyra if it can be run there.

Thanks !

I tried Play on my Wintel laptop and it works but trying Persona 3, the graphics are all glitchy, no sound and no fullspeed on a Haswell CPU.

At least this is an easy decision, I'm not saving that game for the Pyra :)

Obviously. Did you read the "About" page ?

The emulator can run a few games, but very awfully in most cases but I'm continuing my work to make it faster and more stable. I hope that in a few years, I'll be able to reach a quality level that will allow anyone to play their favorite PlayStation 2 game on their PC.[/QUOTE]

If you don't mind 2D graphics, try Persona 3 Portable with PPSSPP :) Can't say if they cut any content since I never played the original one, but it's still awesome :D FYI, if you hate pink interfaces, do NOT choose the female player character.

I did. I'm a curious person, tried and got a definitive answer.

jeeks: I tried the portable version as well as the PS2 version as I also have a PSP and would rather play this game on a handheld. Comparing the 1st hour of the game, I felt I really wanted the animated cutscenes of the PS2 version, they add much to the ambiance.

Another option might be to play the PSP version and watch the animations on Youtube ? Not sure how practical that would be.

If you find a way to emulate non IEEE754 floats accurately without killing performance then handle the annoying motion engine synchronization then perhaps it will work properly..

So get started.

I finally bought a NVidia card for my computer that supports Gamestream.
It works wonders: I am playing Persona 3 FES on my PS Vita with Moonlight, the game is emulated with PCSX2.

It will be even better with the Pyra's R2/L2/R3/L3 for streaming PS2 games.

I haven't tried it yet, but I should also finally be able to play Shining Force 3 with SSF.

I have only played Persona 4 on my Vita and it made me want to play Persona 3.

From what I've read, the 1 is different and might be difficult to get into.
It is generally advised to try 3/4, 2 if interested by the franchise and only try 1 if really curious.

But I don't know, I have only played 4 to completion and it was a good game overall. 3 looks quite similar.

The Persona series is a spin-off of Shin Megami Tensei which was a spin-off of the original MegaTen series on the MSX. Really, you could always argue that you should start earlier, so starting anywhere is as good as anywhere else. There's also the Digital Devil Saga games released on the PS2 before the PS2 Persona games, and Persona 2 is two games on PS1.

Personally, I played a bit of P3, but got bored, and never got round to booting P4.
