PGS Windows 10 gaming handheld - GPD WIN competitor

Traveling all of yesterday, (no, i'm not in or have I since returned from China)

Stage 13 Accused of fraud, guilty of satire.

They are dumb enough to send that out as an update…!?
With a name like that, people are going to click the e-mail they get and make up their own minds about them. More loss at 11.

On the topic of hemorrhage:
PGS, in kicking its own teeth in, has developed a oft voiced foot-in-mouth problem that it has since solved, all it needs now is a prosthetic leg!

This is just awesome :)
It's been a while since I had so much fun following a Kickstarter project :D

I wish I could like your latest comment on their scampaign! I do hope kickstart kibosh them soon. I think next update is critical.

These guys are just plain gaslighting at this point. Trying to block out legitimate comments under all sorts of nonsense. It's starting to turn from entertaining and astonishing to annoying and creepy.

I really hope KS pulls them.

This is not going to be a popular comment, but I agree with them on one thing. Although the commenters are not GPD/Pyra shills as they claim, I do however agree that you shouldn't mention the GPD WIN(or PYRA) in their KS comments. Mentioning a competitor in the comments is below the belt - and I wouldn't be surprised if it is against KS rules.

Plus you do make it look like you are shills when you do that, and thus you lose credibility in what legitimate criticism you say

Completely agree. I also believe it is against kickstarter rules, although I am no angel their with my language sometimes. Sadly it gave them the "us against them" angle. Now any legitimate questions are burried by the troll backer accounts.

For reasons why it proves a tangible vector of attack, it has not, and will not take place. If it is relevant, sure. PGS went with it anyway. If you cant deal with the argument, go for the person, or a conviction of your creation.

Nadir has taken everyone to the battlegrounds, and it is a theater of comedy and despair.

I predict a record day, that update has shaved off thousands faster than kicktraq updates.

Some interesting posts from months before the PGS KS: These are from April

So I got some feedback from them on a forum thread they started. Here's the conversation so far

    @PGSLab

When will you have a prototype ready?

By the way, I'd lose that gimmicky second screen, put the controls in a line above and then add a keyboard in the bottom half. There is a number of games that won't even boot unless they detect a keyboard is attached

  • PGSLab

@vcoleiro1 Hi. We know about keyboard detection issue in some games. To solve this problem, we wrote a simple driver that emulates a keyboard connection.
The already have prototypes. We plan to release the final examples of the device in June-Jule 2016
    • vcoleiro1
      @PGSLab

If you already have a prototype, I think you should show it now. There is a strong opinion on the internet that this is vapour ware at best. That is what people are saying. So showing even a crude prototype now could help convince people otherwise. Also, no one can find any info on your company PGSLab, there is no About section on your site and Google searches come up dry. The only info people have found is that your site is hosted in Russia. But nothing about your company

Also, the second talking point is the price, is the plan to still make the extreme model $250. Or is that price likely to change

By the way, a keyboard would be far better than that touchscreen. Second touch screens always end up gimmicky unless like the NDS you have an eco system built around it to support it. But if your locked into that second screen, I suppose me saying this is meaningless.

Have you guys seen the Pandora (and soon to be released Pyra) and the GPD WIN?

    @vcoleiro Hi. Thanks for suggestions.
We have several test prototypes, but they are far from what can be shown on the photos ("Frankenstein prototypes" - without case, second display etc). Soon we will have a prototype similar to the final render, which we show in the forums and the press.
And sure, we know about Pandora\Pyra\GPD WIN.
Pandora and Pyra are interesting devices. They certainly good fit for emulators. Unfortunately, they are not compatible with Windows games.
GPD - is pretty well-proven team of developers of gaming systems. Although GPD WIN their first device on Windows, we have no doubt in their success. But unfortunately, in real-world gaming tests with a single-channel memory z8500 almost twice slower than z8750 with dual-channel memory. We wish them luck and hope that they will reconsider their choice about 8500.
Details about the PGS team, we can tell you later, because the team is still in the process of formation. But now I can say that every member of the team is a fan of portable gaming systems and a highly qualified specialist of his field. Our multilingual team has Americans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians and Indians. Among them, engineers, IT specialists, programmers, etc.
We very much want the community understands - we realy want to do the best thing in the portable gaming world. Quality materials, quality device. From portable gamers for portable gamers.

Thanks for comment. We will think about linux support.
Currently, we are negotiating with engineering base of "Yota Devices".

Hello!
1. Sure
2. MicroSD
3. We do not plan to open a pre-order. The device will be available when it is ready (2016Q4). 230-260$.
4. You can see sample of "Frankenstein" prototype in the video that we prepared in the event of release on Kickstarter: (dont share, please)
5. Our company is registered in the United States, Detroit. The head office is located in Moscow. Logistics office in China.

Hi! Unfortunately, in the near future, we definitely do not plan to increase the size of the device and its display.
The device is equipped with a micro-hdmi port. The device also supports Miracast and WiDi.
Since both the display using capacitive technology, we do not plan to equip the device with the stylus.

Thanks for suggestions. We'll think about it.

Hi! Yes, we are currently experimenting with an alternative placement of the controls. In the release version, we will raise the analogs just above.

About "early prototype and KS video":
This movie is incomplete. It was created a long time ago, when we were still planning to go on Kickstarter. An early prototype was created almost two years ago. To create it, we used the stuff from Cube iWork 7 2\32 (not Linx). Current prototypes are assembled from more recent hardware (z8700\4gb).

Nice update :) I'd like to provide some details concerning this part:
Alternative theory, these people, like the youtube comments they didnt leave behind, never existed. PGS realizes their project will get taken down, and create an enemy it can deal with.
PGS cannot compete fairly.

Some "negative comments" did exist but not hundreds of them as Nadir stated. Here is my personal history on one of their Youtube video.

The last message of Dilan states the following:
"Nope, I'm not the one crying over what I bought but I won't take it right now."

Now let's take a look at the current comments:

if we try to unfold the replies...

Link to the video:
They just kept the part where Dilan was saying that he wanted to back the project. If that's not misinformation, I don't know how to call it... They also removed some other "negative comments" but there really were a few of them.

Youtube comments are always filled with negativity and bile. That's how it is. And I do agree it's inappropriate to link to competitors in KS comments but in this case the people who are doing so are really just trying to do the PGS backers a favor.

People who think that any kind of opposition or criticism is professional shilling need to get over themselves. Guess what, not everything is a conspiracy against you. Sometimes you're just wrong, or at least popularly opposed.

I dont know at what point you read the story, i added to it afterwards. Basically there cant have been hundreds of posts on youtube, because they have anti-spam features. Also, they would have kept proof of it, not reimplement it in their own broken English.

"How about 2012 footage of the same footage, with someone else playing? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljUByjCvKT0&feature=youtu.be&t=23s Now look at the watermark at 0:18 again"

Thats my comment. (which you can't see anymore unless logged in)

hey, this dramastory is really fun to read! :)
i just hope no potential customer looses too much money with this.
...better risc than risk! ;)

Ok , so I had to laugh at this one. I looked at the Smach Z KS which was cancelled. I was going through the comments and one stood out which made me laugh

XXXXX on June 8
PGS kickstarter coming real soon apparently, let's hope this one actually has something to show unlike the smach z jokers.

Oh boy, I lay in bed last night after working 9 hours straight on Saturday and was following the comments (laughing out loud) like some comedy on TV when I was a kid, the hilarity was marvelous!
Thanks for this project!

At this point, I don't think anyone in this "team" apart from Nadir and Lola actually exists if you don't count the model Kostas Valov who played Alan Williams - product designer and community manager. :D

All the accounts with broken English created in July 2016 supporting PGS now and fighting against the vile scum that is daring to ask questions about real updates, proof, actual information and prototypes are also great.

Someone should suggest to PGSLab that they go to their alleged investors and make the case that they've already proven they can get over three times the required figure of support. Under highly dubious circumstances at that. This should be enough for them to get funding to build a real prototype NOW and cancel the campaign with a quite reasonable excuse. Which would save a lot of face vs KS shutting them down or worse, getting the pledge money but blowing the project because they're not prepared for it.

If they really have investors who have given them the terms they promised this should be a no-brainer for both parties. If they can't/aren't willing to make a good prototype under such favorable conditions then they're proving nobody should back them on Kickstarter OR give them private investments.

I mean it, I really recommend someone presents this to them and pushes hard to not be ignored. Their response should give some strong indications about the truthfulness of their investor comments.

During the last days our project and all web pages were brutally attacked by spammers. They aim to:

- smear our status

- confuse our backers

- make the backers leave our project and so contribute to their own product's development.

The main goal they're obviously trying to achieve is blocking our campaign.

They spam endlessly trying to smear as much as possible. We're almost sure you'll see their filthy comments once this message appears.

One of their principal "arguments" to make you leave us is "absence of prototype" as they call it. However, the link to the prototype has been posted on our Kickstarter page since the compaign began. By the end of the campaign we'll try to show you the renewed version of the prototype.

To those who desperately try to smear our campaing (our competitors) we advise to apply their forces and means (which they spend to hinder us) to create a decent product, able to meet our competition! As it's absolutely clear now that your present project looks quite miserable, let's face the truth.

The next update will contain the information about our production and investment partners.

Thank you for staying with us! We'll never let you down! ;)

~PGS Lab
You just can't make this stuff up. I wonder what their next "prototype" will be...

Blocking their campaign honestly isn't a bad idea, and I love how they're calling people, who are telling the cold truth about their project, spammers and filthy comment posters..
