Money Orders work internationally, I do not know exactally what they call them in the UK, I have gotten some from people in the UK before (and I am in the US), however, so I know they are available there just the same as here and that they work internationally.
A money order is simply money you pay to a bank (or similar) and they give you a little piece of paper (like a check except its already paid for and you dont need a bank account), you send that "check" to whoever you want, and _only_ they can cash it. They cash it by going to any bank (or similar) and cashing it the same way they would a check.
However its more secure for the company because they dont have to worry about it being returned due to lack of funds like a check may, or worry about it being a bad check, etc.. because money orders are basically "pre paid checks".
So saying you cant buy things because you cant get a credit card, or bank account, etc... is not really a valid excuse, I have never encountered a store or website that would not accept money orders. (with the exception of a few ebay auctions that would ONLY accept paypal and nothing else, but thats their loss).
