Not much I can do about that, except to avoid the problem by adding a "tv out mode" that has a lower max resolution in order to keep omapdss happy.

Maybe notaz can do something to solve the actual problem? That is, if it can be solved.

I have one folder full of pictures, and a SUBfolder in it full of thumbnails, and I wasn't able to see the pictures from PIV !! It was always opening the subfolder with thumbnails...

Is there a workaround for this ?

When I open PIV I press OK in the main folder, but seems like the subfolder is automatically selected

You're selecting a folder, so maybe go one level up and make sure the folder you want to view is highlighted (without going into it).

The problem is that the subfolder is already highlighted when the I enter the main folder, and all the pictures are not selectable, so how can I "deselect" the subfolder ?

EDIT: Found out, CTRL+Click deselected it

Is there a size limit for pictures ? I have a segmentation fault with 6/8 MB images

EDIT: run_vp line 31

EDIT: I just can't understand what's the problem with that time function... I'm fiddling with the pictures and the script to find the cause

EDIT: if I comment that line, I always got a "No files selected" in the logs, and no errors...

EDIT: even opening one of those images directly from thunar doesn open it and gives that segmentation fault

EDIT: excluded all the others possibilities, file names and all, it's the image itself that crashes the viewer

What kind of image is it? Format? Resolution? There is no size limit, and I've opened much bigger images without problems.

Can you send me the image?

Here one of the images, I have an entire collection and no one is opening, I opened with The Gimp but except for the fact that's a big image I didn't see strange values

That's a weird JPEG, it seems to have transparency?

Anyway, I can reproduce the bug, so I hope I can find out how to fix it...

OK, turned out it is a JPEG file that uses not the usual 3-channel RGB, but it uses a 4-channel CMYK color space. I never encountered such exotic JPEG files before, but it seems it is legit :) . My viewer on my laptop for some reason displayed it as if it had an alpha channel (the black areas were transparent), probably because it got confused too.

I cannot find a way to fast-load such CMYK jpeg files, but instead of just crashing, I'll make sure that it gets loaded through the fall-back method of converting it with ImageMagick. Will work in the next update! I hope that also fixes Tenka's personalized porn crashes :)

The viewer locks the device (no more inputs possible) when the viewer is open, a picture is loaded, you close the lid (pandora goes into standby mode) and you wake it up.

Just for record. Ive made some tests few weeks ago with piv and it seems to hang on my unit when i use "not so well" compressed jpegs [8MB / 10MB].

Also: when you skip through alot of pictures, the app will crash (just restarts or current pic will still be visible, open folder dialog opens in the background of the picture (picturebox not visible anymore, just the picture [no more borders or "window" around the picture]))

EDIT
Is there a specific test image you can send me on which it crashes? I've opened 90 MB jpeg files without problems, so size alone is not the issue.

Do you make your Pandora go to suspend-to-ram on lid close? I never use that feature, so I haven't tested it. I'll see if I can reproduce this.

Could you send me a pnd.out (it's in /tmp) when this happens?

Is any chance for Animated Gif support in next Versions? ;)
This is low on my priority list. It's a lot of work, because all my code works on the assumption of one image per file and only having to draw on input. If I add animated gifs, I can almost just as well add video formats.

In any project, you need some kind of focus. The focus of PIV is viewing photos (e.g. directly from your camera's SD card), sorting them out, rotating and crop, scaling down, making a web gallery. I.e. the entire workflow from an SD card full of holiday pictures to something ready to upload or archive. I hope you understand now why animated gifs are not an urgent priority in this project :)

The next things I'll probably do with PIV are getting rid of those bugs that were reported, and maybe thumbnails. If and when I find time for it.

Might not be the same cause, but I've seen similar symptoms in various applications with non-default sgx video drivers; both with just 'blank display' and 'low power mode' on display close. Sometimes it is recovering after some time, but often I haven't waited long enough and force-rebooted.
