Mame Gp32 1.0 Download!!!

I must just be a dumbass..

(1) When I scan my roms using clrmame there seem to be loads missing (from individual games).

(2) I seem to need to change the filename extension before copying to the smc - does it matter what to or has something gone wrong along the way?

Cheers

QV

Depending on where you go the roms and if you got all the sets including their parents, this may happen.

They should be zipped - so why change them??

Yeah, didn't realise they were meant to be zipped. Most of em are working now. Quality!

Can anyone tell me why whenever I try to use clrmame pro (for months now!) I keep getting this message "At least one Addpath matches a Rompath clrmame pro disables such paths..." or some bullshit.

I've done everything Evil Dragon says, at least to my knowledge. Is there anywhere I can just download .34 roms?

Come on Anbu you know better than to ask for roms on a forum !!!

Yeah I know, I was just really pissed off last night.

Though, (preparing to be flamed here) isn't it a little hypocritical? Nobody on this forum has paid for their roms, on any emulator, not just MAME (only an idiot would). So to me it does seem kind of out of order to blast someone asking for roms.

If one of you had replied with "yes I do know where to get them" - then I would have PM'd you - no issues with that is there?

Its a real shame, I really wanna use Franxis' emulator and be able to tell him how great it is, but this fucking clrmame pro bollocks keeps getting in the way.

Anyway, I apologise for asking for roms (when I already know better) - despite the massive amount of hypocrisy.

But emulators arent legal, roms are.

Its the same on any messageboard out there, well any decent legit one. If people start putting tons of links for illegal roms etc then the website owners could perhaps get in trouble thats why they dont want you to post links to illegal roms, porn or anything else dubious.

You'll find the best thing to do is to PM someone and kindly ask, when newbies turn up asking for roms then they often get shot down. Granted the MAME roms are a bit more difficult because of the format but you can see why we moan at newbies who cant find SNES roms, 1) because they ask openly and 2) because theyre lazy.

Its the same on any similar forum out there.

Good point. So you're saying the websites that do offer roms are taking a chance of being shutdown somehow?

P.S. Finally I can play MAME on my gp32_console. Big thanks to psj3809 and GA01 for their efforts.

Well i dont get the ins and outs, i know that decent websites like this with messageboards etc never have links to games etc as they 'i presume' stand a chance of getting shut down by annoyed companies.

Rom sites i've received in the past however just keep offering roms for some reason. I mean i dont now if they get threatened by companies or if they keep swapping providers or something, not really sure. Some of the sites i have are eastern european so i think its probably a lot tougher to close those down rather than some guy in the US hosting 100000 roms.

I've said it elsewhere but www.vgmuseum.com is a site (no roms) full of screenshots of 100000's of games. Useful looking through for a game you like and then 'finding' it elsewhere !

psj - I'm guessing its more of an ettiquette(sp?) thing than a legality issue.

I think its pretty safe to say that the users of forums like this love and care deeply about gaming and game companies - we've all got our favourites. I think that's where this ettiquette stems from.

white demon - yeah, I assumed he meant *illegal*

Shouldn't that be the other way round?

Ha ha my fault for typing too fast !!!

The easier rom sites to find only have olders games which are less likely to attract attention as they are no longer a big money maker, plus many don't have old roms from companies that actively protect their copywrite. eg: Nintendo
However once you start openly giving out links everyone starts asking and they want links to current commercial games that defiantly will get someone's attention. Plus forums that do this can get very spammy and some people's requests end up sounding very demanding and quite frankly rude. Not the case here but it happens.

It's just easier for everyone if a no links rule is enforced.

I've thankfully found a few rom sites over the years which are very good, some of the worst ones are the crappy ones saying ' click here to vote for this site' etc as that seems to install a ton of crap on your machine.

Also i've found other good sites but they then have 'porn manga' or 'anime' or whatever its called, all very sad and not the best sites to download roms from at work !!!

Whatever you do if you download roms from a few dodgy sites then i would run Ad-Aware straight after which picks up a fair bit of crap

Yep, i ran ad-Aware after going to a few of these sites. The day before, ad-aware found a couple of problems, straight away after a few downloads I had 118 'problems'. They obviously were not all malicious, but even so!

@johnpsj...? Thanks!!!! ;)
