Mame Gp2x 2.5 Is Out!

I finally began using MAME. I had a quick blast of Space Invaders, it works great. :)

Unfortunately, the one game I hoped to get working was Galaga, which gives a rom loading error everytime I try it, no matter what version. I filtered it through ClrMame Pro with the .dat file given in Mame2x, and made sure the versions I got were the ones specified in the readme file. Any help?

By the way, I notivced that ClrMame outputs more .zip files than it's given, I assume most of the extra ones are duds as more than half of the romsets I converted also gave loading errors. Ah to be a newbie :D

The dream would be to convert the romset 036 at least... :p

Maybe I missed this somewhere, but what is the reason for the emulator needing to be based on such an old version of mame?

Yeah! Galaga (Namco) works great for me! :)

Just so you don't think I'm making this up ;)

Code:
Loading "Galaga (Namco)"...
04m_g01.bin
04k_g02.bin
04j_g03.bin
Unable to open ROM
Error reading ROMs
Unable to initialize machine emulation
LOAD FAILED: Press A button...

I used the same .dat on this as I did on other roms, which work, so it's not that.

I don't think that all the sample sets in the available download are really needed. In particular, the williams games. Joust, Sinistar, and Stargate.

Even though it loads the samples for track -n- field. They don't seem to play.

Some have extra samples and some samples are missing in that pack I think.

Alot of sounds are still missing in Donkey Kong junior, while other sounds are disproportionatly loud.

I looked in that sample pack and many seem to be missing for DKjr. How can we create out own samples to add? That .SAM file ext doesn't look familiar is there a converter somewhere?

PepperII doesn't load anymore. I tried it to see if there was sound but it locked up with a black screen. I thought it used to work.

.SAM usually means signed 8-bit sample.. I think. Most audio apps should support it, although the only one I know for sure is Adobe Audition.

They can be opened with most audio apps as raw files - you just need to tell the app it's 8bit signed and the frequency.
EDIT: although, as I've just proven to myself; just resampling the sample files (for invaders.zip) meant the ones I changed didn't play at all... :( So it's not as easy as I thought.

Your rom is buggered.. mine has about 13 .bin files in it.
Man this is weird. I tried all the 'sources' I know, and all of them become like that. I could not find Galaga (bootleg), but I tried Galaga (Namco) and Galaga 3 (set 2), both of which give that error. Any ideas?

And before anyone asks, yes, I did filter them through ClrMame, which I did with other sets, which worked fine afterwards.

I'm using the rom that I used on my GP32. That is the first thing that I did whenever I started up Mame GP2x. I transfered all of my game roms to the 2X. I never ran them through ClrMame. I've never have used the ClrMame yet for any rom that I have on mame. I am running around a little over 100 games right now.

Well then you must have ClrMame'd them before using them on the GP32. I didn't find any 0.34 MAME sets out there, so other than that I'm stumped. :(

Well, I got it working (thanks to those who pointed me to the wiki about ClrMamePro). I have to say, it's pretty neat. I played through Rygar last night.

Neither one will work with this version of MAME. Has anyone gotten Donkey Kong to work?
