Hello everyone,

Sorry I've not been as active on the forums as usual in the last week - it's been a lot of real world things and I'm actually sleeping normal hours these days so I can't hang out here for a few hours at night at the moment (I'm sure that will change back to normal soon though!).

Essentially as you know there is a lot going on, we had to change banks when our old one just decided they didn't want us any more, we took too much money too fast and in the 'current climate' they didn't want this kind of account. Yes it is as bizarre as it sounds.

We are having to deal with it - it's not a good idea to try to fight a bank.

At the same time production had to be organised, more software development, the case moulds, sourcing parts.

As you also know the LCD supplier let us down by not delivering the full amount at once but they are coming.

These are the frustrating parts of setting up production of a new system. But as we have always said we won't cut corners to bring this to you faster at a lower quality, let me give you an example:

We can get those LCDs from another supplier but they throw in 'used' or 'second grade' LCDs - we won't deal with them, we will only get them from the best source even if we have to wait a little longer.

We think this will make you overall happy in the long term along with the extra RAM and NAND.

So please try to stay relaxed :) we have devoted the last 2 years to this project so we want to make sure it is as good as possible.

Chip is going to take over more of the day to day forum Q&A to give us more time on the project.

That's it for now, hope to have some tasty photos of the Pandora with its controls in soon.

-Craig

Thanks for the update, It is appreciated. :)

Thanks for the update!

I am pretty sure everything will work out fine in the end.
And we all will be able to enjoy the great Pandora in the near future.

Thanks for the update Craig.

Looking forward to hearing when the re-order requests are finished. Then the last of us can add just a little more Relaxo to our Rancho. :)

Oh, I wanted to add that the reason the Bank thing is taking a while is that we are having to work at the Banks pace - not ours!

Iam in the US, NY , BUT I lived in the UK for 4 years and the banks there are SUPER SUPER SLOW !!!! So everyone in the USA just understand that banking in England is gonna be a major reason for the slow down . I speak from 1st hand experience here.

thats the reason the game bureaucracy by infocom came from england :p And I think there could be a revised version of infocom's classic where the makers of a great handheld have to move their cash because they were using it. :D

Quite a hard game it would be, but I guess craigix is noticing that in real life.

I wish that more HW/SW developers would think like you guys. I'm sick and tired of writing software for HW 'rushed into market' because of 'strategic business needs'...
As an engineer I'm much more comfortable with 'when it's done - it's done' attitude. This way we have better product and don't waste too much time with trivial bugs. B)

Your priorities are spot - on.

If the wi-fi antenna design isn't finished yet (as was indicated in another thread), then I would prefer a delay to get it 100% right.. :D The Nokia N800 has an amazing wi-fi sensitivity and I would like the Pandora to be the same - it makes the device so much more useful when on the move.

From the US, thanks for the update.
I hope all the new gp32x members/ soon to be pandora owners realize this hardware development team are hard working joe's and they have the passion to bring up nothing but the best.....lets sit tight and just enjoy the ride.

Thanks Craig, just wondering though. Are you having to wait for all 3800 LCD's before production/shipping, or will the first batch of LCD's (680??) mean that a small batch of Pandora's can be made and sent out early december? I only ask as I know I'll be in that bracket....I think!

Why is it I suspect that may be a forlorn hope? Oh yes:

yupSo basically summed up as:

Masses: Give us an update.
Devs:
Masses: Give us an update - no matter how small.
Devs:
Masses: Give us an update - no matter how small. Please.
Devs:
Masses: Give us an update - no matter how small. Please. Otherwise we'll throw our toys out of the pram.
Devs: OK, here's an update but it is brief. There's nothing much to say other than we are very busy.
Masses: That update didn't tell me exactly what I wanted to know. Give us an update.
Devs: '!'
Repeat ad-nauseum.
Anyway, thanks craigix for taking the time to give us an update.
