yeah.. it was mentioned several times...

I searched again and here is another answer:

hello,
Thank you for your nice comment on gpx2.
We are planning to make options to choose bigger ram.
What do you exactly mean "digital pad"?
And unfortunately Gpx2 will not run Gp32 software
Thank you again,,^^

I'm quessing some people think the controller is analogue, because it resembles the classic mushroom-type analogue sticks in N64 and PS Dual Shock pads.

Analogue would not be the end of all, you know. PS2 pads have analogue buttons, and they are quite precise. And most good flight yokes are analogue-digital nowadays.

even if it were analogue, it wouldn't be too hard to drop in an aftermarket digital pad, right? if someone makes it specifically for the gpx2.

" First of all, great job! I'm loving everything I hear about the GPx2. :)

Anyway, I appreciate the ability to simply copy video files over without conversion to lower resolution, bitrate, fps, etc. However, that will take up unnecessary space on the SD card. I was wondering if Gamepark Holdings would consider releasing a simple (but good) video conversion tool that would resize the image and use the best settings possible for the console (even better would be to have different quality settings, like High, Medium, and Low quality).

Would you think about this? I'd be willing to pay for it... ;-)"

shinneri,

just use virtualdub to resize your videos! best quality, and you have a LOT of control.

But I'm lazy.... :p

Also, Even with VirtualDubMOD I can't get DVDs to encode. The sounds doesn't work. For some reason, it doesn't play if I just use the track from the vob files. I've tried sound ripping softwares and inserted that track into the video, but then they didn't sync up. If you could help, I'd gladly use virtualdub, but so far I've had no luck unless they're already an avi.

VFAPI won't work for me either... I have NO idea what I'm doing wrong there...

analogue goes on resistance. so yeah, if you have 3 point switches for the miroswitches.

Yeah but that doesn't work well in practice. They did it on the Zodiac with less than perfect results. The problem is that you end up hitting diagonals by accident as well as the sloppiness causing alot of wrong turns etc in emulated games. It is very frustrating playing that way.

But you are not playing 2D games on the PS2 that were originally designed for a digital pad/stick, big difference.

Lets hope it uses resistance. Some use hall effect transistors and a magnet for sensing position. That makes it complicated.

It would seem I have alot of modding to do if I bought this thing.

Put in a d-pad/stick

add two buttons near the stick for vertical MAME games

Replace plastic screen with glass.

BTW the extra ram will have a significant effect on the battery life, the more ram you have, the more power is needed to update it's state. RAM is the third most power intensive part of a portable after the CPU and Screen. Hopefully we'll still be able to get 5+ hours of game time out of the console for gaming use...

On the Analogue front, it all depends on the quality of the stick. Sticks with large dead zones (like the Dual shocks) are horrible at emulating a digital pad but a well made one isn't too horrible and the slight negatives for beat em ups and shmups (d-pads weren't as effective as arcade sticks to begin with anyway) get outweighed by the FPS and flightsim possibilities, not to mention slight improvements on things like SCUMMVM where it can make things just a bit quicker

Wow, I can't believe it there is a whole article for GPX2 ina magazine in my country. And I am living in... Bulgaria. If someone is interested I can translate it. I think that it adds little additional info about GPX2.

It is interesting article by the way.

Yes, fine, we get it: translate it already! :p

No really, please do... does it say anything not already mentioned or have nice pictures?

Hello, ok, i'll try to clear up a few things:

As far as I know its digital.

I'm going to Korea this month to see the system in its final design. The system should launch with emulators available. I'm taking my video camera.

I will be checking on the raw boot feature to see if we can avoid this linux OS situation.

I have a few more things to discuss with them, I am well aware of all the little bugs in the design and exactly what we want from this system.

I will do everything in my power to make it what we want.

Don't worry about the 200mhz cpu speed, there is more to it than meets the eye. Just try to bear with me on this one and check out the performace when released.
