Pepone released a new beta version of GNGeo2x at this thread

Thanks to Squidge's MMU hack, this has a MASSIVE speed boost (10 - 20 fps!)

It's still beta, try it out and leave some feedback at the mentioned thread!

Well, after many attempts to redump the graphics (For metal slug 3), it doesn't work. :(

Also, metal slug 4 and 5 the stats show but the character, enemies, and background are all black :(

Squidge's MMU hack seems really useful. It's already been implemented in MAME and now GnGeo... w00t!

Should the hack also go into hu6280 ?

Vobbo?

I dunno if all the other emus could benefit from this, the PSX, SNES and Amiga emulator come to mind.

So far NeoGeo and the MAME emulator habe both implemented that solution and got some improvement. I think if someone can really master a way to use the second processor (I know the design is really bad to make any kind of multithread thing 8-(, if not we could have already have some improvement since day one) in a efficient way it could unlock new possibilities for the GP2X. Like the quote from Dune : "The sleeper must awaken" ;-).

I know why this is. It is because your current roms have the graphic files replaced with dummy files...to lessen the size of the rom. When you are trying to re-create your gfx dumps, you are essentially dumping nothing. Solution? Redownload full roms. It sucks I know, but this is what my problem was earlier.

this is great! speed up for sure (waku waku 7 is playable with sound!) and i haven't had to re-dump any rom yet.

i found the download by going to the first post in that thread ... in pepone's sig :)

edit unless my smc is really starving for space i always leave dumped gfx around, just i want to play on a pc emulator or something ;)

I played this update t'other night, and whilst I only have a working ROM of Metal Slug 1, I must say, this is very, very sweet stuff. There is no lag with the graphics, and I have the sound on full quality. The music jumps a tiny bit but it's hardly noticeable. I'm very impressed by this emulator.

I'd probably ask where I can get versions of the other Metal Slugs, Samurai Shodowns, and King of Fighters which work on this emulator, but that's probably not allowed so just snip this part of my post if that's the case. If it is allowed however, if someone could PM me a link I'd be really grateful.

It's only useful if you use the extra RAM, as far as I'm aware. If uae4all was extended to support AGA, it would be useful then, as that's a real RAM hog, but that's not really the major issue at present. SNES emulators probably don't care either...

I can't speak for the minimal lib, but with the Hw accelerated SDL, every Hardware surface are in the upper memory. And full speed access to this aera make a big difference.

I live and learn :) I'll get right on it... uae4all uses HW accelerated SDL.

Same as, not sure if it's allowed but it'd be great if someone could PM me and point me in the right direction of compatible Roms for this release. Main reason i got a GP2x was to play my MVS games on the go :)

OK so heres my problem. I've been dying to play snk vs. capcom and metal slug 5 but every rom i get seems to be not functioning. I look for decrypted ones and big one but it still seems to have the same problems. Can any one help? Also ragex loader doesn't work with the newest neo geo. Any suggestions for that?

Heres a problem with the latest version of Rage2x.

It works fine with the games it plays, however, for some reason it doesn't detect Puzzle Bobble 2 or 1 as a ROM. Gngeo plays them fine but Rage2X can't detect them for some reason, it plays the other roms fine though. Do those two ROMS need to be called anything specific?

EDIT: Okay, nevermind works now. I had to rename the files to make them work with Rage2X.

Edit 2: New problem, Metal Slug 1 is slow - music/sound on. Is this normal? Do any MS work with music/sound at full speed? I can get it working quite fast with sound, but only at the low sound rate quality. Which is fine, however, it seems I cannot turn the volume down wile selecting the low sound rate quality in Rage2x.
