For Anyone Who Cares...

Dave, I have the exact same kind of batteries as you (2000 mah IC-3s) and mine last 3.5 hours on 200 mhz with full sound on (I've been using them faily consitently for a few days now, playing Falldown and they still say 'Full' in the menu). I'd say you just have a bad pair.

Must be my GP2X then it is a first edition with 1.01 FW installed. I don't want to upgrade to the newest FW because I have seen how the screen looks with the new FW release and it is shit. The gamma/brightness is way too high washing out the image giving light grey background when it should be black. I will just recharge more often I guess and not OC until they release a FW with good screen contrast.

For anyone that wants to get rid of the bug that chops up sprites near the bottom of the screen, unpack the below archive to wherever you have SquidgeSNES installed. Note that this requires the full 0.34 version to work, so it must already be installed: www.squidgey.plus.com/squidgesnes034sp1.zip
Thanks Squidge, you're top notch. I do believe that if I can play some Arkanoid there will be a donation speeding your way ;)

Maybe you batteries are just old and need replacing? They might still work fine with less power intensive devices, but not with the GP2X.

The gamma / brightness is NOT the firmware, it's the resistor GPH changed (that resistor caused the flickering on some of the first units).

Dude. I just wanna say that this totally rocks. So far I've just been playing Violinist of Hameln, though. Sound at 200Mhz at FS2 perfectly playable to me... and the annoying lack of the transforming vector outline has suddenly taken a turn for the better. It's there, perfectly smooth. o.o

When Terranigma, FFIV, Seiken Densetsu 3 and Earthbound become properly emulated, my gamepark is never gonna leave my side.

I find it weird that Terranigma runs 45fps, but Yoshi's Cookie (a VERY simple game o.o) runs 4-10fps. o.o And Magic Boy has major graphical glitches on the title screen and menus for some reason. But all the wonderful effects it has (stretch and squeeze, the hourglass thing on 'Sand Land') are perfect. It runs 30fps FS2, also 200Mhz.

Which resistor is it? Maybe I can go in and replace it with the proper one.

Can't believe I just sat next to the fire playing Super Ghouls and Ghosts for 3 hours. The best bloody 2D game i've played in YEARS.

Needed some serious overclocking with all those kick ass effects, but well worth it, good thing I have 2600 ansmanns and get 5 hours :)

Fantasic fun.

I'd really like it if you could get Super Demo World to run, Squidge. It doesn't even go to the "Nintendo" or title screen. Disappointing, really. You'd probably be able to iron out a few bugs with it because that game pushes the SNES to the limits. There's slowdown in zsnes in it. But I guess zsnes tries to be more accurate rather than more playable.

kinda off topic, but what's the highest capacity batteries I can buy, and what's the best brand? I think I read 3700 somewhere....

I just brought 4 x 2800mah Tamiya batteries from ebay from China. (The highest I've seen) They cost 20 aussies dollars, so I'll do some test and tell you all about it when I get them.

I'm preparing myself for disapointment, just like my Powerbase 2500 batteries that hardly last half an hour.

So I'll be comparing them to my energizers 2500.

The gamma/brightness is perfect on my 2x, and I do have a 'first edition' model. I'm using Firmware 1.2.0 right now, it doesn't look washed out at all to me, although it does when I change to UPLL -1 or -2.

The wavy diagonal lines are a lot worse in the newer versions than in 1.0.1 (which was still worse than 1.0.0 + the LCD patch, IMO) on my GP2X, which doesn't seem to be the case for everyone else, so maybe the resistor values are changed or something.

Craig, I think you shoul start selling some decent rechargeable batteries and chargers with GP2X, as people have to buy them eventually.

The thing is that often companies inflate the mAh rating, and lie.
I would be surprised if 2800mAh from China (of all places) is actually real.

I'm sure that even if it is not a outright lie, it'll probably not match reach the standard voltage requirement and fizzle out faster then DaveC batteries.

(By the way, most batteries are made in China. Just the unknown brand ones are less reputed.)

I beleve the noise you describe is acutally the rain in the first levels.

Just ran ZSNES on my pc, and now I think you're right. I just didn't think it could be because it doesn't sound anything like it should and it's EXTREMELY lound compared to the BG music. Hope the sound becomes better when he updates it next. ^_^

Beautiful - I can see the sprites now :) Though I can't seem to lower the sound that's blasting at me from Arkanoid  Am I imagining it, or should I be able to adjust the sound level?
