There's the flaw in your argument. We have every open-source dev on our side. Everything that's ever been open-sourced* can end up on a Pandora, from the Linux kernel to Doom 3. And that has brought users. The prospect of a full Linux desktop with all the software that I use at home is certainly what brought me. Trying to restrict its use with deliberate backwards-incompatibility and a custom SDK cuts off decades of hard work from this machine. Just so we can convince new people to do it again in a different way for money? That idea makes so little sense that I can only hope skeezix is right. You couldn convince users to buy hardware without devers on board on your side..
*a little exaggerated, yes.
true , but i mean just:
You couldnt get mainstream users [average gamers joe's] to OP without more mainstream studios [or even indie studios with well known games]. Of course we have dev'rs / porter's but that attracts only more orthodox linux users [because of linux apps / games ports], and not really average joe's. Average Joe's spend more $$ for games than orthodox linuxers , thats a fact. Create Pimp my pandora competition , tell everyone thats pandora is trendy. Put some svarovski crap into pandora and You're ready to fight for average joe. And dont forget to shout "this year is a open pandora year, if you're not with us, you're loser.". No Average joe wants to be a looser.. Users will eventually come with big sack of money. and finally if "clean money" comes , everything will be easier to solve. New fast firmware = no problem. Faster memory = no problem..
apart of that
Theres no business without money. ED is heading in right direction, but this might turn into crap when investors will try to push own idea. ED will be forced to dance like investors say..
