Android gingerbread in a pnd?

If it is against the rules to post links to a modded googlestore, please remove them mods!

If you want the playstore get the two ATTACHED files in the first post from here:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582422

As well as the GoogleServicesFramework.apk (please google for one that works)

Then copy them to your sdcard.

Use the fileexplorer to install the framework, then install the unmodified apk.

After that use a rootshell or a fileexplorer that can be used as root to rename the modded apk to Vending.apk and replace the one in /system/app/ with it.

Reboot android and use the playstore :)

Of course you need to register with your googleaccount first.

Hope that helps and that I don't have done something bad...

Damn mame4droid reloaded is still not installing anyone any ideas.

I am pretty sure mame4droid reloaded would be quite slow on Pandora since it is based on Mame 0.134

To be honest current Pandora's arcade emulation is not that bad thanks to PanMame and Final Burn Alpha.
panmame and fba cant fullspeed

Well, basing on my tests i have troubles only with Taito F3, Sega System 32, Namco and Midway games (in PanMame).

FBA indeed is very good, maybe IGS games need more speed.

But, other than that, you can play fullspeed or near fullspeed on the Pandora:

-CPS1

-CPS2

-CPS3

-Neo Geo

-Sega games (not all)

-IGS although a bit slow

-Psikyo SH2

-Konami 68000 based games

-Banpresto 68000 based games

-Irem M92

-some Taito games (Chase HQ, Continental Circus and Metal Black among others)

-later Data East games

and some other random games (Battle Toads, Thunder Hoop, Back Street Soccer...).
Yeah and taito f3 stv titan and crystal system(zealer board) is what i want along with a load of obscure unique hardware configs which mame 134 emulates so id say its alot also theres a guide on youtube to enable alot of decent features in mame4droid reloaded also it works on the jxd s7100 which uses gingerbread so don't get how this build won't allow an install

You can make that option by editing /boot/bootmenu.txt, it's not the real problem..
I was hoping that applications like Flash would automatically start using dsp if available, but having enabled it in the kernel I can't tell if that's the case or I'm just imagining it, nor even how that would actually make any sense in retrospect.

The Flash demo from TI also says it will automatically use the DSP bridge (if available) when handling h264 decoding, but I haven't noticed any improved performance today in youtube playback; that's a discussion for a different thread though.

Ok the sound problem was my fault (wrong alsa module), as well as Cyanogenmod-Settings crashing (missing packages). So here is r5:

Bringing in missing CM packages also brought all it's UI customization stuff, not sure if it's good or bad thing.

Reminder: if you are updating from r3 or earlier, it's highly recommended to delete appdata.

Is there any way to have more than 1.9GB for installs?

Few apps I've tried now that I have good class 10 SD cards dedicated for this.

Amazon App Store - Just go to Amazon's page and install from the browser.. just works.. From there I installed these.

Pandora - Installs, but during run time it doesn't play anything saying unsupported device.

Slacker Radio -plays flawlessly, actually like this app better than Pandora anyway. - Tested with Wifi..

Skype - Installs, runs.. but making calls doesn't seem to work.. just times out attempting to dial. - Tried Wifi and USB Ethernet adapter.

Netflix - Overclocked to 1020mhz, using a USB ethernet connection. The video looks alright, doesn't look like it's skipping, but seems to have a sound delay.

Kindle Reader- Works great no complaints.

wow this r5 is amazing, it appears to be cynogenmod 7 and you can get the gapps (including market with full apps from there wiki)

http://wiki.cyanogen...ion/Google_Apps

REMEMBER its version 7!

download the zip, drop the folders in the app data folder and reboot andoid :)

brill work notaz!

now we just need to fix the ability to use game buttons in games :)

EDIT:

we could also do with the following:

remove cell reception (some tweek in build.prop should fix this), use DSP with 3.2 kernel :)

how do you get past the setup wizard? screen is black except for "Setup Wizard" at top of screen?

thx

Hard reset and then delete the Meta-inf directory before trying again.

Bonus tip: startup Android once before installing this package and configure your wifi. Then, after you install the package, you'll be able to complete the setup and link your account. If you don't configure the wifi first, you'll have to exit the wizard halfway through to configure your wifi anyway and then finish up later.

R5 is working very well. CM7 features are doing a good job.

Since we lack proper Home/Back buttons etc. It maybe worth setting it in 'Tablet Mode' basically you get permanent soft keys like the picture below.

CM7-Kindle-Fire-Tablet-Tweaks.jpg

Not sure how exactly this is achieved

just tested netflix on r5 and watched devil may cry anime and it worked so silky smooth (over wifi too but overclocked to 1ghz not tried standard speeds yet).

hm.. strange. I just started messing with r5 and it seems that wifi is not work. It disbles itself after few seconds.. even if i set wifi on in options, it will auto-turn-off in a little while. Whats going on?

btw. i didnt tested previous [r1-r4] versions..

btw. v2 there's some info in the background terminal debug while loading andoroid that "wifi is not whitelisted" [ore something similiar]

Android (at least on my xperia play) has an issue where sometimes it randomly disconnects. Launching another app that requires internet such as email should cause it to reconnect

now we just need to fix the ability to use game buttons in games

Works without issues with the GameKeyboard App which is available on the appstore.

You can map touchscreen presses to your DPad and buttons.

Works like a charm :)
