I prefer the hands on method myself. The only items you need are a white coat and a stethoscope.
I was under the impression a stethoscope was terribly expensive but apparently they are like $100-250.
Pigeons usually go from $50-500. A pigeon would make a different impression though.
They can also be trained to operate a touch-screen btw. something a stethoscope cannot do, but those don't have monthly recurring costs.
