I preordered exactly one year ago. Never did I think it would take this long. I still have faith though, but I would my patience is nearly gone. Please get this in my hand ASAP pandora team!
I hope your wait is worth it.relapse808 said:I preordered exactly one year ago. Never did I think it would take this long. I still have faith though, but I would my patience is nearly gone. Please get this in my hand ASAP pandora team!
careful, you could be jinxing something very important thereSphinxter said:Sure, it's only a question of which birthday.
lucky youMassive said:For me it was 1 year ago yesterday.
Still really looking forward to this piece of kit.
What's "power" though? Look at the DS and PSP, they've just released new versions with basically the same dated hardware under the hood that has been in there for years. The DS is totally gutless, but it still sells like a hot little bastard.migo said:The sad thing is when it was announced it looked like it'd be the most powerful system hardware wise. Now the 3rd Generation iPod Touch is out and suddenly it's not.
at best the ipod touch comes close to equalling it. does it have the DSP and all the other bits? feel free to go and get one but i dont know what benefit it will have for you. maybe you really enjoy playing games with just the touchscreen or maybe you even like being restricted to doing with it what apple wants you to.migo said:The sad thing is when it was announced it looked like it'd be the most powerful system hardware wise. After seeing all the issues with the c64 emulator on the Itouch it made me think and remember why I preordered (a year and a day ago). I so hope we do see the Pandora this or next month

If you're concerned about Pandora's performance alongside a bunch of Apple PMPs, don't be. The "power" of Apple mobile devices is largely out of the reach of independent developers.
PSX4all runs better on the Palm Pre's OMAP3430 than it does on the 3GS, according to Zodttd's tests. That still puts Pandora's 3530 in a pretty good position, no?

power doesnt just come from raw processor speed, it comes from versatility and what you can do with it. the pandora is so open in its software and has so much connectivity the options are practically limitless. now thats a powerful device
You seem to have horribly misquoted me. Point taken though, the DSi is quite a decent upgrade over the DS. God forbid someone would buy a PMP with a mere 133mhz though! The horror!slaanesh said:Actually the NDSi is pretty powerful and has had a considerable upgrade.
NDS has 66Mhz and 4MB of RAM.
NDSi has 133Mhz and 16MB of RAM + SD slot + the original hardware.
of course in terms of hardware they're going to be caught up with, but the point i was trying to make is that pure hardware spec isnt everything. it hasnt lost any of its original potential, its just that other devices are coming closer to matching it. if i buy a device with a warranty like the iphone, i sure as hell wont jailbreak it because that warranty will be voided and i dont trust apple to make long lasting products. the pandora on the other hand should be as sturdy as a PC where you can freely install new software, new operating systems and new everything and it wont reduce any of the original functionality. you really dont seem to understand what the benefit of a completely open handheld device like this has over one where the company will go out of their way with firmware updates to make sure you only use it the way they want you to.RenegadeChic said:at best the ipod touch comes close to equalling it. does it have the DSP and all the other bits? feel free to go and get one but i dont know what benefit it will have for you. maybe you really enjoy playing games with just the touchscreen or maybe you even like being restricted to doing with it what apple wants you to.
Ever heard of Jailbreaking? The iPhone homebrew community is already bigger than the Pandora one will ever be. I'm no wizard when it comes to actual performance, but the specs of the Pandora look much less impressive now than they used to.
