    Pool Panic

Damn, well I learned something new. In an embarrassing sort of way. I've actually only used linux with ext3 volumes, except when mounting existing ntfs volumes, and then I'd probably be using a gui. My gp2x's sd card is formatted as fat, but for whatever reason I thought case mattered. Cargo...

    Pool Panic

I think things are case-sensitive in linux regardless of what filesystem you're on. SDL is AFAIK going to be using calls to the OS to get any particular file, so case will matter even if your SD card is mounted as FAT. Also I think that Windows will show a different case than what's actually...

    Abuse Ported To Gp2x V1.0

fusion_power: IMO it's easier to play on PC, with a mouse. That said, I don't think I ever got very far in it. Very fast-paced, challenging game though. And yes, it's all shooting while running. There's some shooting from ladders too :D

    Pool Panic

timothee, I have a weird feeling that if you run the touch screen calibration in the firmware, that problem might go away. or maybe not...in any case I doubt it's the filesystem. I'm pretty sure I have fw 4.0 as well, since I never updated mine. "Not tainted" is a pretty good error message, as...

    Pool Panic

This game is really fun. Very smooth and nice graphics too! And now I am looking up who these Chas & Dave guys are. As always you have a sense for what's funny and fun Jim. One thing I noticed was if I touch the screen on my F200, it slows down the game? Sort of weird but doesn't really detract...

    Abuse Ported To Gp2x V1.0

Words cannot express your commitment to awesomeness, Quack. This was always one of the games that cried out for the GP2X...I knew it was in Lisp but I had no idea how much work people were facing trying to port it. This is *almost* as sweet as your UQM port :D A thousand kudos to you.

    Sd Permissions

You need write permissions to format the card (at least I know in Windows and OSX you do), assuming the card reader also respects the tab. Try using it in different devices or card readers if you have anything available. For instance, you could try to use a digital camera to format the card, or...

Gph: The Wiz - Official Announcement

And this is why the internet should have training wheels. Edit: OK, that's a little harsh :P But I think you're stepping into evangelical territory. Don't look at it as someone can't afford the system, but that in the absence of unlimited funds, people have to choose how valuable something is...

The Wiz Gets Proper Buttons And A 3.5mm Headphone Jack

You're also screwed if you lose the whole device. They should put a homing beacon in it. :D Seriously, I'm quite happy with this. The right-side plus pad was not going to cut it for gaming. But I will be interested to find out if the USB is back to "normal" or it is the limited USB that the...

Does "your Source To Open Source Entertainment" Sound A Litt

Pretty sure the phrase "source to" isn't correct for the way it's being used. It should be "source for", unless it's something like "I never give my source to anyone". And as long as we're being honest, I don't like the color scheme of the front page...reminds me of underwear for old people.

    The 3000

It's "engraving" but yeah I'm going to say, having missed the earlier thread on it, that I think it's a good idea. Doesn't even have to be an engraving, just make it clear with the serial number that this is from the first batch. Socially, it's not something you'd buy because everyone has one...

    Pandora Keyboard Layout

SysRq? You guys are insane. And I'm not sure it's the good kind of insane. Macs do just fine without all the legacy keys. I'm sure there's dos or text mode linux programs that make use of more keys, and it doesn't hurt to map them behind the scenes, but some of that stuff wouldn't be missed at...

Gph: The Wiz - Official Announcement

As far as battery life, they could add a switch to shut off the radio. And wifi would be great for networked storage, playing homebrew against other people (on a good day i guess), installing games right from the internet, reading email, and plenty of other things that don't involve a web...

Gph: The Wiz - Official Announcement

Looks like they got a real designer this time for both the packaging and the unit's case. But I'm with Craig on the ABXY buttons. My guess is that the dual d-pad is for 3D. I'm a little disappointed...they seem to have improved on the gp2x in a lot of ways here, but the right-hand d-pad is...

Just to clarify: I don't think either of those are happening. The others have said composite is there but not component.

How Is The Battery Life Indicator Going To Be?

I have a confession to make...I think a fade would be cool when it's starting up. "Throbbing" I guess you would say. And flash red and green when the boot fails :D

How Is The Battery Life Indicator Going To Be?

What is clear about having multiple states (fading, flash, etc)? Either it's time to charge the battery, or it isn't. A gradual fade might not be noticed, and it's ambiguous because you have to guess how red it is. Blinking...can't believe I even have to say how terrible it is. I'm trying to...
