Nk Qtopia For Gp2x

so youre telling me we now have internet on our gp2x's?

Im on cramfs at the moment cant I edit the gpu to point to the sd card instead?

WOHOOO

NK your a GOD seriously dude if im ever in korea women and alcohol for the uber coder ;)

Do you reckon we could get english support and also how is it running speed wise?

Yeah !!
Qtopia rocks...for a test...
A bit slow and some little problem, but a lot of things seems ok...
Great...continu testing...

It just become a little weird if you run a .gpe from Qtopia because the .gpe (mostly) do an exec of gp2xmenu at the end, so you have then Qtopia and gp2xmenu running together...
So you could have a mouse and other weird things appearing in the gp2xmenu and sometimes it get back (graphically I mean) to Qtopia until you press something and else...

Heyyyyy... If you get one of those serial-usb connectors around, can you connect a usb-mouse to it? Obviuosly needs drivers, but with drivers, could it work?

doesn't work serial-usb connectors, but working usb mouse, keyboard with USB Host adaptor.
i already test with usb device, and applied settings.

hmm this could get quite usefull...
this test version looks really cool, how to install new apps for qtopia, cant we just use Zaurus apps? those were made for arm and qtopia...

Yes NK, great work !!
Can someone just tell us more about implemanting new apps for Qtopia...
Like Opera etc...

And NK's as already tested it with USB device like keyboard ?!? if my english is not so crappy... Is it correct ??

I'm really waiting to be able to connect a keyboard...It would be rather than great !!!

I remember in late September I asked some question about keyboard device for text input and else...and I think nobody thought at this time I would come so close so early...

i just extract a game for the zaurus... (was in ipk format, the package format of the zaurus) it worked but couldnt find the graphics, which was sure since i didnt copied them to the right direction, they should be in /opt/QTpalm/.......
would be nice if someone could port the package installer...

Ok. I've tried the supplied kernel and the USB kernel. I load the .gpu and it just blanks out for a second and goes back to the menu. This is how I'm flashing the kernel (please correct me if this is wrong): I'm placing the .img file in the root of the SD card and rebooting the gp2x. I don't see a "flashing gp2x" message like the official firmware releases but it does pause for a second. Also, is there a specific directory that this needs to be in? Please help me with this if you can, I used to have a zaurus and it would be awesome to run this on the gp2x. Thank you.

I did use the latest version. How can I tell if my gp2x was flashed with the network support kernel? Is there a config or module I can look for to see if it flashed correctly. So, what you are saying, is if I place the gp2xkernel.img on the root of my sd and copy the other three files over to a folder and launch the provided .gpu I shouldn't have any issues? Becuase currently it just blinks to a black screen for a second and then back to the menu.

EDIT: Nevermind. I tried it again and it worked. I think there is something wrong with the memory card reader/writer that I use at work.. because I copied the exact same files, the same way and this time it worked. Thanks for your help!

This is so cool. This should have been entered in the coding comp.
It's too bad the gp2x doesn't have an internal battery to save the time and date settings.

once we have internet running the time could be updated via an ntp-server...

How do you get the network to work? Does it require a serial cable?

i guess the included qtopia kernel is based on the
usbnet kernel http://archive.gp2x.de/cgi-bin/cfiles.cgi?0,0,0,0,8,1285
so one can have the pc as a gateway to the web via the usbcable.

havn't tried networking yet.
i'm waiting for the gph breakout-box and a wifi-stick.

cheers

I extracted an othello game and other than screen size issues, it worked fine. Here is a site where everyone can test out the ipk files: http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus. Just use win rar to extract the IPK file under windows.
