Uae4all Amiga Emulator Port To Gp2x

I've been looking at compatibility more today, and noticed the report about New Zealand Story hanging on the intro. This only happens when you have sound disabled, and it's because it's waiting for sound IRQ's that never happen. I'll provide an in-code solution for this, now I know what the problem is.

Ive noticed the same thing with Batman the Movie. Without sound it crashes when the batman and joker screen starts scrolling upwards but with sound on it gets past this point.

I don't know if anyone's asked this (And I'm too tired to trawl through 25 pages) but can I use an encrypted kickstart rom from Amiga Forever? I've tried everything I could think of, even writing a script to get uae4all to look at the rom.key file and STILL, I get a black screen when I hit "Run".

No,but if you've got a legit licence to use kickstart having bought Amiga Forever or whatever, then you could just obtain the rom elsewhere.

Likewise California Games, Blood Money, Menace, and probably others. A pleasing development :)

wow I just played some Blood Money. The emulation of this game is really smooth.

Forgot to mention if your concerned about messing with the battery LED, then just provide your own battery monitor like some of the other homebrews have been doing.

I think that will keep some people happy.

There have been other emulators that emulate sound registers, etc. without ACTUALLY playing sound that seem to have the best of both worlds - full 'compatibility' with MOSTLY full speed.

This what you plan to do, Critical?

I need to dig up how I got Three Stooges from infinite looping. I had a UAE config that worked - but it took many hours of dicking around with it.

Update: I found the config. I BELIEVE (its been awhile) that it REQUIRES NTSC timing vice PAL timing (which seems to be what most stand alone emus run under). The .uae file is here:

http://www.monroeworld.com/3Stooges.zip

This is older, but I know it worked and it was a bitch :)

Yes, that's the plan. I think I can optimise it further as it still seems slow, but I thought I'd release 0.4.5 now anyway (it makes Blood Money look nicer):

20060303 - version 0.4.5
Added support for HAM and EHB. Added 'Fake' option to sound,
which does enough to get stubborn games to run, but is intended
to allow the game to still run faster than it would if real
sound was being output.

Get it from http://www.vividvillage.com/ as usual.

I had a quick go at implementing an NTSC selector, with the resulting changed timings. I then tried to run the Three Stooges, but it reset in the same manner, I'm afraid. I'll have to take more of a look at it soon... must get savestates done next, really.

as i promised,i've tested some games;namely

CHESSMASTER:works only whent the chip-cpu slide is all the way to cpu, otherwise it will han on the loading screen

CAPTAIN BLOOD:run till the workbench screen, then freezes.i've experienced this on some other workbench-only games too

LEMMINGS (1):works,slow,but works

Oh dear, I just showed my girlfriend Crystal Kingdom Dizzy. It was nice having the GP2X for a while...

EDIT: Yay, it's back in my evil clutches (for now).

Solstar: I just tried Captain Blood (Quartex cracked), and it worked fine (with Emu Bias set to full CPU). Lemmings shouldn't be that slow... what Emu Bias are you using? It should be in the centre, I think. BTW, if you test any more games, please add your results to the wiki (url in my .sig).

You just let me know here or in a PM/Email (I wouldn't mind us exchanging IMs either) when you need the Wiki Generator updated for additions to the emulator. I'd hate to be behind.

In the meantime, I'll dink with Three Stooges a bit in WinUAE and see if I can find the magic setting. This wasn't unique to this title either. Dragon's Lair took something TOTALLY dicked up like this to work too.

Update: I checked the Stooges on the latest WinUAE and it works fine with no special settings. Dang ... Grrrrr.....

For some reason I can´t get the versions after 4.2 work ?!?! Black Screen, had the same problem with DJ Willis SCUMMVM until his latest service release, is this af FW 1.4 Problem ?!?

Are you the person that mailed my gmail account? I've replied to you, if you are.

Otherwise, are you using a script to launch uae4all.gpe? If so, you'll now need to specify the full path to the executable in it.

I've upgraded my gp2x to use the 1.4 firmware, and it works fine for me.

i have tried:

HYDRA :eek:verclock to 300 and it worked fine, albeit slow to that point that in some levels is almost unplayable

EYE OF HORUS:good speed without tweaking anything

what Emu Bias are you using? It should be in the centre

i don't know if its me or maybe the emu or other, but the games only work if the bias slide is all the way to cpu.moreover,i tried other workbench games and they work.only captain blood still freezes at the "quartex etc"screen...

maybe its an old version?i've downloaded the one in gp2x archive.de

If you read the wiki compatibility list, it shows the games that people have reported working on different bias settings. Workbench-based games tend to only work on full CPU bias, but many others work fine on the default setting (which is normally a lot faster).

Captain Blood definitely works for me with the bias set to full CPU. Maybe your rip is different from mine (although mine says Quartex too).

The version of uae4all that you're using shouldn't matter in this case. I've tried it on 0.4.5 and 0.4.3 and it worked fine on both.

yep its different.the 0.4.2 worked,this version hangsup with a black screen.. :p

however, isn't strange that captain blood hangs on that screen even if i haven't tinkered with the optino?do i have to overclock the emu?
