I Just Got My Gp2x!!!

Just got my GP2X!
WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!

The bloody plastic screen cover came pre-scratched which has annoyed me a bit, and the screen colours look a tad washed out, but I love it! :D

Everytime.....

The prescratched screen is a cover, you need to take it off. Yes, we know you have already, but there is another one underneath.

If you knew how funny this is....

(Try reading the last few pages of this thread, to see why....)

There are two covers, have you removed two? The second one isn't easy to remove, but it is there. Read this thread from the beginning...

Got mine today fom gbax.com! Very happy with it so far. Screen is a lot better than I expected from what I've heard people complaining about it. Joystick is a bit dodgy for certain games but am getting used to it. Got a DaveC cap ordered too which should help.

So far have tried Mame and DrMD. Both are excellent. Sensi Soccer on DrMD worth the money alone!

Anyone know of a decent utility to play wmv files?

Cheers,
Rich

Mine arrived today, doesn't appear on windows when I link it up via USB though. Screen is much better than my GP32BLU one, joystick is fine for me.

DrMD is amazing, PRdoom (or whatever it's called) crashes after the first level. And thats all I've tried so far.

I think there is no utility to play wmv files yet... and i believe there has been a discussion about it that there also never will be one! It's apparently too complicated to get the various codecs right and also it seems to consume too many system resources... better stay with xvid and divx!

Yes, its here! I ordered it on Monday, got it Friday. I ordered all the bits and got it all in one go. :)

But I forgot to make sure I had a sd reader. :( Whoops, got to go and get one. :)

I also got my GP2X on Friday and have been having fun uploading various 8 bit computer games onto it ever since. I got a 1 Gb card with it so I have plenty of space. I have to say I'm quite pleased with it although my only gripe is the joystick is very unresponsive in the menu screen forcing me to push it several times before it responds. Oddly enough this unresponsiveness does not appear when playing games which is a good thing!

It'll be possible when a different media player application is ported or written for the system. All that's needed is something that doesn't rely too heavily on floating point math..

I finally got my gp2x from gbax!

Only problem is that my tv-out wasn't delivered....

Got mine yesterday from GP2X.co.uk (Craig's place) - great! I got one of the original ones back in December, it was faulty - this one is far better, and GP2X.co.uk is where I recommend everyone to get theirs from!

Updated firmware to 1.4 in a matter of seconds - kernel and patches. Wow.

Finally got mine two days ago, ordered it together with a friend from playasia.
I just updated to firmware 1.4. Haven't found any problems yet. (except that usb doesn't work, but who cares) :)

There are not two covers on the outer screen, it has a DEEP scratch on it.

The outer cover has a thin film on it. You need to pick at it on a corner to get it off.

The washed out colors is due to the brightness being defaulted too high by the puddin'heads at GPH. The resulting black level sucks because of this too. In another thread I go into this. It can be changed in software but someone has yet to write the utility.

Got mine back from GP32z today (or yesterday, considering it's 4:47 AM here) it works... only problem is that I sent back a non-first edition... and got a first edition back... no real difference... the only noticeable difference is the amount of scratches on the screen... yeah all scratched up... joking, but yeah... everyone else was doing it...

Mine screen was also "scratched", but I haven't removed the thin plastic sheet, because I haven't bought a carry case and I don't want my real screen to get scratched. I know you can buy another screen-screen protector, but it's quite expensive for just an thin piece of plastic. Does anyone know where you can get something like that cheap or is there an alternative to protect the screen from scratches.
